It matters not, the initial impact velocity was such that they plunged under for a short amount of time, however, they will float back up eventually...

the headwinds and bitter cold weather of 58 degrees caused alarming damage to the gastropods endurance.  they stopped in their tracks.  unwilling to budge - whilst the musher (a grasshopper) rubbed a toxic substance onto their slimy underbodies to get them to pick up momentum.  it would dry into a sort of traction powder.
