Recital program yay!

I'm having my first REAL recital yay!!! 

It's gonna be like in late April or early May, so I have time.

Anyways, I need your suggestions on what order I should play the program in.

This is what I have on my mind:

Liszt-La Campanella
Beethoven-sonata Op. 13 No. 8
Rachmaninoff-prelude Op. 32 No. 10
Beethoven-sonata Op. 57 No. 23


SO...  This is how it is...

Chances are, not everyone attending is a musician, (parents and friends of my parents) and I don't want them to fall asleep the first five minutes.  So I wanted to start off with something flashy. 

Now the Op. 13 Beethoven is second because I wanna separate the Beethoven sonatas because once again, not everyone's a musician and I feel like that would be too much.

So I did the Rachmaninoff third because I have to split the Beethoven sonatas.

And of course the Appassionata is last because it's just the best piece in the whole program.




So how is it?  I might add a Chopin nocturne or something to put a larger gap between the Beethoven sonatas.

Well I'd enjoy it.

If you put nocturne 9/2 in there you'd probably please a non musician crowd more so than any other nocturne and it will give you a technical reprieve. I imagine that wouldn't be what you'd personally want to play though..

Alternatively you could break it up with something by someone less well known. Everything you're playing there is "big names".

And ooooh I have some pretty unknown names in my bag of tricks.  I'll do some piece by Arno Babajanian!

Oh wait!  My friend is a composer and he gave me two of his pieces!  I could do one of his!

Or maybe I could do on of Brendan234623698469234923743273427923428s pieces.

why not put the op. 53 polonaise in between your sonatas? it is a crowd pleaser to both non-musician and musician audiences.

I don't know anything by Carl Vine.

I don't feel like getting a Sciabin piece back in circulation.

Maybe I'll do one of his preludes.

The fugue from his Polyphonic Sonata would make up for your Bach avoidance.

One of the people coming played both, so I feel like one of us is gonna feel salty.

I'll just do the one in C# minor.

But it's not really easily accessible to a non-musical audience.  And it would scare some people if you got it right.

Well the room can hold like 40-45 people and let's say my parents and their friends come.  And a few stragglers from off the street.

So that's like 8 non musicians there?

1. Tausig/Bach Toccata and Fugue in Dm (to set the tone  )
2. Liszt/Schubert Erelkonig
3. Alkan La Vent
4. Ravel Scarbo
5. Ravel Le Gibet
6. Scriabin Sonata No 6

Do you have time for that?

Actually, I don't have any major pieces in my program so I guess I'll start off with the Bach.

And use the Scriabin prelude in the encore.

I think u could do a part of the bach in the encore(prelude or fugue ir whole thing)  idk. Scruabin seems too much for an encore. But i dont know anything so just tell me what you end up doing and how it goes.

We didn't rehearse yet.  But I have the piece ready, so now I'm good.  I think she managed to audition without me.

But anyways, I talked to some other people and they all said she was a diva.  Like she thinks she does everything perfect.  If that's true, then this should be pretty interesting. Hehehe...
