Emily said that her Liszt TE 12 was better than my Chopin preludes, so... which is better? Let PS have the final word!

BS, I never said my Chasse-neige was better, I only said I ruined it not more than you. See for yourself, PS Members.

BTW I voted for myself just because I can.

lol...   sad isn't it--that you play so well yet doubt your skills...  that's why it's so difficult to understand how in hell someone could learn 8 measures of a Chopin etude, or play a little tune they made up on their keyboard and honestly believe that makes them a "musical genius."
it's unfathomable to someone who actually plays.

btw  both of you play beautifully...    :)  very impressive. WOW.

Ok I'm going to give some constructive feedback.

Emily ;D your use of rubato to highlight every harmony change is unnecessary. You can show the interesting harmonies with colors!! the rubato messes with the structure of the piece. Oh and if You had been thinking about when to stop the recording, then I bet that affected your focus as well. And even so, the abrupt end to the recording was in the worst spot possible. It was anticlimactic and emotionally unsatisfying.

Noah (first time I've called you that) your playing is in much better taste :P though in the B flat minor prelude, despite the fact that it's such a difficult piece, you REALLY need to make sure your arms are relaxed! While this is kind of a niche "Russian" thing, try letting your arm guide your hand a little more than the articulation of each finger (while not becoming too floppy of course ;D)

For "musicality" Pencilart is the clear winner here ;D

For "technique" Noah has the aforementioned "issues" but the playing is much more impressive; Emily, while being able to play tremolandi very effortlessly doesn't have much else to show in those two minutes of the Chasse-neige... Oh my this is a tough contest!

I think Noah wins quite a bit though overall... That's who I'm casting my vote for. Sorry Emily, we're still friends, it's not personal... ;D

That's good advice, if I actually knew the official definition of color ::)

But yeah, the rubato in that recording was excessive.

Theres a "Take 2" that Pencilart3 avoided for a reason.....

Actually I would beat you if a lot of YT views also meant a lot of talent...  sadly talent and views really don't correlate at all much of the time.  lol.

I have those views because I got very very LUCKY and:

1.  I opened my YT account 9 years ago
2.  I used a super 8 camera, nice lighting, and a pretty piano when everyone else was using a webcam and a keyboard.
3.  I played Linus and Lucy from the Peanuts cartoons.. well.
4.  and somehow.. someone from YT really liked my vids..because I was featured... a bunch.

even though the views are old... billing myself as a "youtube sensation with 1.7 million views"   still works to get me gigs... quite well. :)

The prelude 16 seemed uneven so that took away from it for me. I liked the performance of prelude 1, perfecto ;) ;). Pencilart seemed really into it which was cool and controlled the flow really well  ;)

Rubenstein mad needs to upload a video of her playing the piano, at least so we can see her hands to have a spot in the competition  ;). I don't see how she loses in musicality though, I don't think there's much musicality you can actually express in the Chopin preludes compared to the Chasse Neige ...  :-X :-X :-X because the Liszt seems more complex  :-X :-X and in my opinion her playing seemed really musical, so I guess all that rubato may have paid off in certain areas  8).

I never said I was not as bad. You should reread what I wrote.

Besides, I win in the long run, because by he time you reach Feux-follets you'll find yourself unable to learn the 1st measure.

I agree.

Rubinsteinmad, you need to stop being so stuck-up. Though to be fair, I was quite a bit when I was 12.
Quote
stuck-up
adjective informal
staying aloof from others because one thinks one is superior.
Here's a little bit about me: I believed in "musical conspiracy theories" and I criticized and insulted every single thing on earth. And I didn't have much respect for other people either- I was frankly quite racist and thought I was "above" everybody (e.g. anyone who didn't like classical music; somehow I thought I was so much more sophisticated than all my friends!). Oh, and, I used to offend people without giving a sh-t, in very much the same way that I think you did to Noah. But gradually I learned that if you respect people and see the "good" parts in them, you learn a lot more and I guess you can say you get a lot more out of your life. And if you don't agree with an opinion (especially if that opinion is the majority, or the consensus), you take off your tinfoil hat and you try your best to see other people's reasoning! (unless that opinion is "the NWO will happen" or "Donald Trump is god)
So no, I am not trying to be condescending and "holier-than-thou;" I know exactly where you're coming from and I've been there too! And it's not good to be like that. You alienate everybody around you.

THAT TOOK A MILLION YEARS TO TYPE WHAT AM I DOING WITH MY TIME

and well you don't have a sense of line... and if you are willing to listen her playing is quite refined and interesting. I didn't think she was going to win though and her playing was not NEARLY as attention grabbing as Arsenii in that competition... I don't love it, but to dismiss as bland...? no...
