Hi all! I was wondering about the difficulty of the following sets of pieces : Images l and ll and Estampes. Which is hardest and easisest according to you as a whole? I have played Estampes recently and wondered if the other 2 sets may be approachable. Also I was wondering if you have any tips on a Beethoven sonata to play. Suggestions? I know it is so different in style But which Beethoven sonatas would you say that Estampes is comparable to in terms of difficulty? Thanks
Images II > Images I > EstampesYou can't rally compare the difficulty of a Beethoven Sonata to a Debussy suite but I guess learning Estampes would take as long time to learn as an easier Beethoven Sonata like the op 90 for example. Completely subjective though
I Guess by that that you are not one who considers op 90 as one of the hard sonatas as many do. But how hard do you consider it to be? Harder or easier than op 13 and Op 27 2 for example?
I think op. 90 is somewhere between moonlight and Tempest in terms of difficulty but it completely depends. Some People thinks it is as hard as Appasionata and some think it is one of the easiest. I think it is in the middle. But if you han do op. 90 justice you can probably do the Images. But that also depends on which your strenghts are. So I think the best one to say how difficult these pieces are is yourself, because I am sure my opinion is very different to your opinion. Hope I could help!
Depends on what you find hard. They're about the same; Op 32 10 is more taxing emotionally. Op. 32 5 has this weird rhythm that I am very weary of approaching. If you want to try to pull off the 5s, then go ahead. I am not brave enough right now (or else just lazy!).
Thanks for info, but I meant the other no 5 from Op 23, the famous one in G minor. Is that one harder or easier than the Op 32 10 in B minor?
For me op 23 no 5 would be harder, but op 32 no 10 is more difficult in other ways. But as I said before, I can't till you what you will find more difficult. Try sight reading the pieces and decide for yourself which one you want to do, and which piece fits your strenghts.
I have already played Op 32 10 actually! Which Beethoven sonata did you find harder between op 26 and Op 27 2?
Op 26 without a doubt. Op 27 no 2 is a piece of cake compared to some of his other stuff. Also, how did you know that I had played them?
