Adding a "like" button to posts
on: October 30, 2017, 02:31:53 PM
I enjoy listening to recordings of fellow improvisers here. However, I'm often unable to say much of interest in response. Sometimes I would enjoy to just click "like" on their posts so they know somebody listened and enjoyed it. But it could be useful for the whole site too.

Ever use twitter, facebook, reddit..etc? Ratings tend to breed a pretty toxic forum culture. Bad idea. I'd like to remain this forum's only toxic member tyvm.

I'm not advocating for ratings or a dislike button. Just a "like" button. So it can only communicate positive reaction. I dunno its probably a lazy solution.

Yeah that's basically what I'm doing now. Just short messages saying I liked something.

I suggested the same a few years ago https://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php?topic=51059.0
I think it is a great idea to encourage forum interaction, something that is in desperate need here.

It seems that the "did you find this post helpful" function is all over the place but no one really uses it and it doesn't really do anything.

I don't know, I frequent a forum that has a cute little "thanks" button next to each post.

I don't see how it could be abused, and it's a nice function.

Maybe some people could use a little feedback to let them know if they're giving actual information, and those who aren't, maybe it could be a teaching moment ( ;D NOT)
