Five favourite Piano Forum members
on: April 14, 2005, 01:23:12 AM
an individual has just gotten a lil grumpy with the fact that there are overflowing postings under: best/favourite pianists, composers, compositions and whatnot, which can be understandably categorized as an "UP-searching".

so?

yeah....the question is "so?", you're right! this is now different *clears throat*. we will now be doing DOWN-searching-ing, i guess, to balance things out with.

ok, don't stare at me like that, go list yours. tds ;D

That's all I need to list 'cause you are so incredbly cool - your threads are of utmost inspiration to me(!)  But this probably doesn't mean too much to you, coming from one of the lowest ranked members on pf.

it's very interesting, if it's true, that a forum like pf ranks its members. i would be keen to know on what basis it does it. out of numerous forums that i am in, i have not encountered any "ranking" system ( though,  i had one when i was in primary school :) )

thanks, but no need to vote for me, i am only new and inexperienced, i guess ;) oh, btw, how about listing yourself in there? i assumed you are one of the "high ranked" members. does it make you feel important? :D i'd be glad if it does. tds :)

Five favourite Piano Forum members

5) That crazy woman piano teacher from Romania who didn't believe her students should have fun.

4) That guy from England whose posts are longer than the complete works of Shakespeare.

3) That guy who writes like he thinks he's Ali G, and had one too many meltdowns resulting in him being banned.

2) That idiot about a year or so ago who thought all piano teachers were useless.

1) That wierdo who keeps posting questions and suggestions in the "PF Website" area that no one ever responds to.

Um... Well I do think some of tds' posts are stupid, but who doesn't have stupid posts?   I like tds, remindes me of me before i got owned by administration. We need people who are light hearted and don't care so much about everything. That thread about "boys" got torn down... which made sence, but i don't see a real reason to take it away. Does it really hurt you to see pointless threads? I find them fun, they should just be posted in off topic, no one looks there unless they want to see pointless threads ;D

Mi favorites members:
Advanced pianists/teachers that spend their time answering basic questions from beginners like me. They show lot of knowledge and patience !!!

Fortunately, there are many in Pianoforum.  :) :)

Bernhard and Xvimby are just two of them i remember right now...

Have you ever been on another forum? What do you think mics and off topic boards are for? Could you please stop posting these negative posts. If you don't find them pointfull, don't post in them. Its more of a waste of your time to post in them than just read the topic. Your posts in these topics are pointless.

Thanks

EDIT: What are you listening to has been in off topic for ages.  Surely if it was pointless, no one would post in it.  I believe it is valuable.

Why yes Fred, I am a member of other forums.  Gamingforce temporarily bans people for starting stupid s*** like this.  It is considered "spam"1 I realise that there are worse thread starters than tds, however, he is just the most recent.

In all honesty, do you truly expect non-pointless posts in an absolutely2 pointless3 thread?  That thought defies4 logic5.

us asians? usa asians, u mean?

well, everyone please note, the following is tds' definition of asian person ( if you fit in one of the eight points, you are asian ):

1. everybody, who likes asians
2. everybody, who thinks s/he knows quite a bit about asia and asians, in general.
3. everybody, who has been to asia
4. everybody, who has tried asian foods ( liking them or not )
5. everybody, who uses asian products
6. everybody, who has the slightest drop of asian blood
7. everybody, who thinks s/he is asian
8. everybody, who thinks asians are smart

Yes, the Editors of the Oxford Dictionary contacted me several times, wanting to buy my idea. well, too bad, i just can't sell it for too cheap 8). oh, please carry on...tds :D ;D

I mean, that is just stupid.  As is:

I am extremely offended by the language used in this thread and think it should be lifted! (Atemp to quote "erotic piano pieces" after I posted. LOL)

I guess im not asian then!!!
OOOOOOOO
Plz don't hurt me im only playin
Ow, cut it out, ow!

(jk, asians are proly the smartest ppl) wait, that makes me asian....
Aside from the fact that they are both immensly childlike (which doesn't really bother me) and POINTLESS3 (which does bother me), they are both very stereotypical6.  So don't rip on me for pointless threads.

dear mikeyg,

i believe we are talking about two completely different things here: 1) quality of a person who delivers pointless remarks, at whom you ( and me and others ) seem to dislike alright; 2) sense of humor quality, which freddy smalls and myself try not to be unreceptive of. a much respected person, or a pitiful color blind is what seperates the lack of quality of the two kinds. best, tds

Mikey,

I do not think you have taken time to consider what you are saying.  You post in tds' threads about how pointless you think they are, yet you don't post in any other "pointless" threads and rant about them.  This seems to me a personal bias, for some reason a mystery to me, against tds.  Have you not seen the mass amounts of ridiculously pointless threads in this forum?  You should go check out "off topic".  Also, thanks for quoting me in your last post; I was particularly fond of that humorous post.  Humor1 is something that you apparently aren't familiar with.  Many of these "pointless” threads you speak of are just people having fun2, taking a break from conversing about piano.  What seems pointless to you is not necessarily pointless to others.  If you hate "pointless" threads so much, do not waste your time posting in them or looking at them.  The people who create them do not intend to hurt you, I'm sure.

Thanks
Fred Smalls

Thanks
Fred Smalls

I would have a "personal bias" against anyone who started stupid threads.  I'm sure you and tds are good people, but these threads are a waste of space.  PLEASE STOP MAKING THREADS LIKE THIS.

grazie,
   Mike

heh anda, I was about to put you on my list with Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Brahms and Debussy but you refused to write me a piano ballade where I could slide a fax machine across the two octaves surrounding middle c. Payback's a pregnant dog ain't it.

i'm sooooooo sorry to have just missed your list! :'(

as for the ballad - i refuse to write works that might result in piano damage (i don't care much if the pianist gets damaged, but i really like pianos :) ) anyway, i don't think you can cram a fax machine in two octaves (little less slide it across). not to mention that the thread was more about fists, elbows, arms, and so on.

anyway, list or no list, my offer is still valid - a scherzo (no fax-machines, no heavy additional stuff) - but you're not allowed to play it publicly unless you play it exactly as written (and that might not be so easy :P )

As long as it's physically playable, deal.
