i can get a lot of sound out of the piano with minimal effort. you should hear me play 'beautiful dreamer variations' (on the stephen foster melody) does that count? i can play other things too - do you want to hear. ok. someone come over here and record me. i'm getting frustrated by the idea of never being able to post a recording because i haven't got the gear. does anyone live nearby collegeville? can anyone record me for 5 minutes? maybe 10 minutes. i'm not as good as before i broke the leg, but my leg isn't the problem anymore. it's the mind. last night i pulled an 'allnighter' helping my son finish a school project (why why why). now u understand? it will be mid-summer before i have all the rep back into shape (scarlatti, barber, beethoven, brahms handel var. . blah blah blah - yes i'm just motivated because i want to show my teacher i can do it. i can be a performer. i can handle the stress (stares into space with four year old alone).
i'd also like to hear lostinidlewonder, arensky, tds, gaer, and a few others. guess that you really don't knwo until the audition room how much you like certain people's playing -but then again - if they are selling a cd they might not play for the general public for free. wish you could all hear the recent cd of carl cranmer (soiree). his playing is unpretentious and very into 'the sound' of it all (as with koji). though i am way below his level - he has some excellent students as well.
if you can play great AND teach great - you've probably got it made! bernhard included. he seems unpretentious as well - and full of great info which only comes from playign ALOT of pieces.
*boohoo about not getting a ticket to the upcoming kimell center concert where (oh what's his nam) is playing the new wannamaker organ. if you can play piano and organ (and banjo) you're great in my book.
