Pianist Composer Forum
on: December 12, 2011, 10:03:40 AM
There in no place to post nor discus original Neoclassical piano compositions. It would be nice to have a Pianist Composers Corner so people like me can talk about our own piano compositions and post them.
I realize that there are very few pianist composers that write in a neoclassical style unless they are writing jingles for TV/radio, but it would be nice to have the option anyway.

You can always post in the audition room. If you look in the archives you can see that there are many requests for a new composition board.

Hallo I have the same question, and I did post my topic in the audition room, but I am not sure to be in the right place;
I will look to the archives, but if you can specify better it will help me! thank you and happy new year.

There was a topic like this a little while ago, and I originally thought people should just use the Audition Room, Improvisation and Miscellaneous categories. But now, I kind of change my mind.

It would probably convince Nils if there were a lot of that kind of material here. Money up front type of thing. Then there would be a reason to create a new sub-board.

Nils should probably merge the improv board with a new composition board. He can make a new set of rules in the new improv/composition board ie. a sticky thread. Not sure if it is a good idea though.

I have seen the threads, and personally I prefere to separate the improvisations from the compositions;
in my experience (I am not a professional music writer anyway), I have several themes (better to say "sketches") in my mind that I have played hundred of times, but, every time I have started to write some note on a paper sheet, I discovered so many "unsolved" passages, that i tooks months or years to close a manuscript that satisfies me..! .. I am probably "maniac",.. but also i prefere much more to listen to other compositions together with the manuscript in my hands;
this is like a writer that, instead to write books, simply repeates the history by memory;
of course, in the 18th century there were no MP3s.. but still i believe that the "improvisation" is quite different from the written score; for this reason, I would prefere to separate the two items in the forum;
about me.. I am simply looking to some pianist who could be interested to take a look to my scores and why not (this is a dream) play them during concerts;
that's all.. and excuse me for my bad english!
Have a nice 2012 all of you!!

I really support the composition board where everyone can share their compositions and discuss them as well as help out with others. The latter part I've seen in Students corner alot. But then Composition fits more into the audition room board. The audition and Improv board are getting a little mixed up. I feel the improv board should be for improvs only, the audition room for people playing oterh composer's stuff and a new composition board for arrangements, transcriptions and compositons by people.
