Is the composer royalty or related to royalty?

No.  Guys, we're not talking an obscure piece here.  I first heard it when I was 7.

In the Hall of the Mountain King.

- Written by Grieg (Norway).

Tony, you genius!  You're right!  Transcribed by Godowsky?  I didn't know that, but he transcribed a heck of a lot of stuff.  I thought for sure Grieg transcribed it himself (as Godowsky is not mentioned on any of the transcriptions I've found).

OK Tony.  You're turn!

Is it the Rach2, written as therapy at the prescription of Dr. Dahl?

or

Is it Mozart's G major piano concerto (K453), based on a tune that his beloved pet starling, "Fool", used to sing?

Those are two good guesses, Shasta!  OK, I'll move this along a little:

Was this composition created between 1800 and 1914?

Hmmm... I don't think so. Although you could perhaps say that there is a unifying concept to it.

Probably at the time: she was the daughter of his conservatory professor (not quite the guy you were probably thinking about though) ;)

No. It was originally written as a piano duet (4 hands), however, the composer did write an orchestral version of it later.

Shssh, anda, while the others are still puzzling, let's play with soap bubbles (I love that! what's your favorite shampoo?) or my wooden horse (it's a bit rusty though, if one can say that about a WOODEN horse). Anybody got any trumpets and drums?

So, xvimbi, do youthink this is getting too unchalleging for you? ;D

What shall we do now? Do you want to do the next one (I read before that you had little time for it now), or shall we continue to see if the others catch on?

Anyway, I am starting a new riddle thread just for the likes of you. Instead of a rule that demands only well-known composers and pieces, it must only have obscure/neglected composers/pieces:

https://pianoforum.net/smf/index.php?topic=7728.new#new

 ;)

Best wishes,
Bernhard.
