i make it a point not to go super uber heavy and deadlift more than 285 lbs or approx 130 kg close to a performance

What's wrong with doing that.

It is a girls weight ;D ;D ;D

oh snap! good one  ;D

indeed, defintely not something to write home to my mother about, truth be told i think im just put together to really max out on relative strength (i.e as a percentage of my bodyweight) vs absolute. that is i can easily move 2x or more of my of my total bodyweight but i don't weigh much so big heavy dudes still push more iron than i ever could in some cases. lol

Maria Lettberg is kinda cute. However, I have that Scriabin box set and most of it is rather dull. Her Schnittke on another CD is nice, though.

Erkki Melartin is a Finnish composer (1875-1937) so no wonder you have never heard of him. I'm Finnish and I have to admit that even if I know his name I have not heard much of his music. Maybe I should do something about that...

The Finnish composers have a huge amount to offer, but few seem to be part of regular repetoire.

I am bursting for commercial recordings of the Linko Piano Concertos.

Lots of Finnish composers writing music today. You may like Kalevi Aho's Piano Concerto No. 2, which, even though it is undoubtedly modern, will not scare away conservatives such as yourself. The piano writing is very Brahmsian.

Giulia Vazzoler

btw she plays a cool contrasting 20th cent jazzy work about 6:40, worth the wait or skipping to if that's your thing

hostess isn't bad either, don't know she's a pianist though. i'll give her the benefit of the doubt lol

i have no idea what they're saying if someone can sort of summarize what the 'judges' say at the end of the performance that would be great.

I'll try so summarize the giury's opinion for you (my language, at last!!!:D). What they appreciate most is the way she plays with clear awareness; deprecating the dominant trend  to play mostly virtuosistic pieces, they praise her choice to pay attention to music above all, and blah blah blah.... Sorry for you, but the pretty hostess is definitely NOT a pianist...(the girl who plays has a diplome in a italian Conservaory, but I don't know which oine).

Generally, I don't like bald men, but HE is fascinating: those eyes, that mouth...No wonder Martha Argerich was and still is fond of him  ;) ;) ;) (he is also a superlative interpreter, actually, one of my favorite pianist)

i think he just wrapped up or is inthe process of finishing dma studies at unt under vladimir viardo. it is a great piano program  and he is one of the guys to study with there.

no, but i did stay at  a holiday inn express last night....

lol seriously, i'm no where near good enough or disciplined enough to be one on paper. i am a card carrying living room and practice room concert pianist though. normally i just end up playing for my dogs or messing with a vocal student in the next room (i.e. playing with their tonal center since the place isn't very well insulated)
