Stopped for about 5 years.
Started again: Samick Upright (laminated "plywood" soundboard)
Upgraded: 6'7" Bösendorfer (at that point recent, about five years old)
Stopped again for about 5 years, sold the Bösi.
Started again: Kawai CN 23 digital.
Will upgrade to better digital now (in the next two months).
Will add to Hamburg B as soon as I can. Will NOT dump digital.

And I assume either a sound proof studio or VERY understanding neighbors. Is that an "old school" Leslie? I remember that they only worked with a Hammond input and the rotary was controlled from a rocker switch on the left of the lower Hammond  keyboard.

BTW from the other thread, that pedal I found has two versions, one for passive (guitars) and another for active (keyboards, etc.) inputs.

Sounds like you got a good pedal for your needs. BTW the Leslie rotary cabinet amp I use has the tweeter rotate by a separate pedal switch. Pause, slow and fast are controlled like a car engine. The 15" reflex woofer does not move.

I still have my 1972 Leslie 825. 15" speaker with a styrofoam cover with a port the spins around the speaker. Its just like the bit tone cabinet without the spinning horn. More or less the "portable" Leslie. Plywood cabinet covered in pebble grained black vinyl.

I like the idea of changing the speed of the spinning horn. We didn't have such luxuries back then, and I often wondered at the time why Leslie didn't provide that option. In an acoustic situation with a pipe organ a large paddle wheel was put in the pipe chamber that could be switched on at just one speed.

Great set up! I notice you went with Behringer. I discovered the value of their products with a small playback pair for my computer. Then I checked out the B2031A and heard nothing better. I've got a pair connected through a mixer to my Yamaha P85.

Cool! Behringer amps are setup for the full spectrum of frequencies that a keyboard uses. I'm considering replacing my stage amp with a Behringer for that reason. But then again I like the punch delivered by the Roland. Maybe I'll use them both.lol......

Jimbo. You have the reproduction of the original tone cabinet. Leslie had gone out of business for a while as well as Hammand. When Hammond started up again, after a while they started reproducing the Leslie, thank goodness. My 825 would be this

minus the horn. It has no tone adustments. Just a preamp with 2 channels and to foot buttons for spin and not spin. Pretty archaic compared to the new ones. Works great though, since its almost 40 years old.

Cool. Why no horns? My Leslie is quit old too. I just showed you the new version of the same thing. I got it on a sale and only paid 1/2 of what it goes for now. I've decide to keep the Roland and stand it on the right side of the Leslie. On the left side this is the Behringer amp I'm getting  https://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/K1800FX.aspx and stack it on top of a custom built speaker cabinet so it will be the as high as the Leslie. Then save up for a Motif! lol

Cool. Why no horns?

Just a different model. Doesn't really need a horn. Sure, horns are good, but I was just using a Yamaha YC20 combo organ (portable) through it with the old garage band and some high school gigs. Cheaper model of the tone cabinet yet still that authentic Leslie sound. Go Cat Go.

Those horns that rotate were for mid range punch. They were always on but their rotation was controlled from the console.

Does anyone know why Hammond came out with rotating horns. I remember when that feature was introduced in the 50's

I believe it was for a different kind of vibrato sound. Easily noticeable. When those horns start spinning, you notice.....

The horns are for the highs. Leslie speakers don't actually spin. There is a styrofoam cover over the speaker with a port that spins around the speaker and tosses out the sound. Only the horn spins. My old hornless 825 doesn't sound much different than a tone cabinet. Its missing some of the richness but still sounds like a Leslie.

The combination of the Leslie cabinet, Roland and Behringer amps along with a bass reflex cabinet makes for an awesome reverb like effect.

For $3-$4k get a great upright slightly used.
I have Yamaha Electric Grand, Two Ensoniqs (Sequencers from the dark ages- 90's), Roland KC550/ KC350 amps (Use one as Monitor) Behringer mixer, and a BOSS pedal that simulates the leslie speaker.
1928 Hardman Grand in the garage (Anyone want to come pick it up for free?) Buying something $12k or less in a small grand. Was looking at a great deal on a C5 Yamaha but the wife just clamped down on the size. Looking at Yamaha C3, a Kawai that is 5'8" or so and a Pramberger Young Chang 6'1" as well as a Yamaha G2 all used all in wonderful shape most with warranties.

I used to tour and play live (Rock/ Blues) now my 18 year old son does that (He plays piano but is a guitarist and amazing bassist for his age). Just playing for the fun of it with my daughter on viola (She plays piano but excels at viola) and old rocker jams with buddies (Hence the electronics stuff). We do 70's-80's-90's rock for fun. Getting the itch to join a classic rock bar band (There is one in my town that is just awesome and they have never had keyboards- could you imagine how good they could sound playing YES, Rush, ELP, Kansas, etc?) but I travel almost every week. Glad to hear people digging the Behringer stuff- Uli Behringer (Founder and really cool guy) had asked me to think about joining his company running a sales group in the US (I'm a sales VP in Consumer Electronics with a global company) and I have to admit, that sounds like a perfect job for me, who knows if he still wants/ needs me. I have the music bug again after being off stage for almost 30 years (And 30 pounds) do you believe that? What a dope!

I have a Fatar/Studiologic NUMA Nero which I have been performing a transplant on for the last few weeks. I have taken out the original velocity sensors and replaced them with the PNOscan Optical Midi Strip by QRS. It feels so much better to play now that that the silicone (rubber) plunger type triggers are gone. I can now also feel escapement/letoff - there was no sign of this before.

A new to us 2000 Baldwin SD-10 in satin.  Just tuned and had action cleaned, etc.  Wonderful sounding instrument from others I got to hear while shopping for a piano for my daughters.  Happy I chose this one.

Update: Did not upgrade the Kawai digital. But I have just added a Yamaha C7 7'4". It arrived on Friday! It's a 1970, completely rebuilt in Japan. The instrument looks and feels like completely new. Needs to be all broken in again!

I have a Kawai upright that has a rather sluggish action, but a nice sound for an upright. I until recently owned a Roland F-100 digital, which I enjoyed for several years but eventually grew tired of its "canned" sound. When I still lived at home I could enjoy my parents' Petrof Model III grand (6' 3"). I still get to play it now and then.

Now, I replaced my F-100 with a Roland HP-302. This is by far my favorite piano that I've played on. Most of the time, it tricks me into feeling like I'm playing a real grand piano both in touch and sound, even though in the back of my mind I'm well aware it is not the real thing. For an amateur, this illusion is perfect. Saves space, time and money. And it is nice to never have to have it tuned.

Darkwind, I know you posted this a while ago, but if you still want suggestions, I suggest Petrof uprights- they have a great renner action and the price is decent as well.  If I didn't have room for a grand, the first thing I would go for is a Petrof Upright.
