never read a medical dictionary or you'll think that you have more ailments than you do.

(hubby bought one because it was 'on sale.'  he's kinda sweet because i was curious about my leg - but, out of boredom i read practically the whole thing today.)

50-70% off - means 50-70% off the rack that is outside.  not the stuff in the store.  and that was after parking in a wee parking lot.

let's not get started on dating egyptian dynasties again.  my bible has these odd dates all over the place - but i had to decide on several and only change my mind when circumstantial evidence seems to indicate impossibilities.  seems that egyptian paint is something i overlooked.  it evolved.  more intricate and careful painting and handiwork with the later stuff - sort of modified thrift store look with more ancient stuff.  statues are wooden instead of stone. eyes look straight ahead and don't follow you.

'do not follow the man who looks like he knows where he is going.'  (you'll probably end up at a library).

i'd probably put in too many biblical references and the posts wouldn't be concise.

new motto:  'be concise and precise.  nobody wants to hear the details.'

gwk - after visiting the 'king tut' exhibit - my curiosity has been peaked again.  i must make it to central park and do a pencil etching of the obelisk of king tuthmosis III.  the thing is - i don't think they allow ladders.  and, one side of this thing is rubbed out completely.  probably the side it was shipped on?  travesty.  at least that is what i see in recent pics.  there is the companion on the thames and a third obelisk of the tuthmosis period in france.

to answer your question more precisely - the egyptians recorded much of ancient history in stone/granite - and it is a way to put benchmarkers on israel during several periods of history when they were either 'in' egypt or 'sojourning.'  it is interesting to me how many times biblical characters went 'into egypt.'  even Jesus Christ, after he was born, fled to egypt.  why?  i think to be recorded in history as having been born during a particular year.  (even though another recording was also done in judea - luke 2:1 - the census from caesar augustus taken of all the inhabited earth).

recently discovered places in israel are also of interest to me.  the recent finding of ehud netzer of 'herod the great' 's tomb was very intrueging.  also, prof. mazar's finding of the palace of king david.  proving that he was a king and not just some nomadic shepherd who had a small following (which was often promoted in historical articles).

Here a few from a former piano teacher that have stuck with me:

"Give yourself every possible advantage."

"Don't take chances." (i.e., don't gamble when you have nothing to gain)

"Only play with the best musicians." (i.e., be a snob so that you can learn something)

I highly recommend that everyone at least tries growing a moustache.  It will do wonders for your piano playing.
