Disappointing when I've realized what they were actually doing was simpler than what they appeared to be doing.

Well, I think that it's easy for many things in life to seem much more difficult than they are  :(.

Here is my current motto, at least for the day:

It is not your desire which lights up the path; it's the path which lights up your desire.

My current motto (at least for the day):

The difference between the present and the past is that one is Self-existent and the other is not.  The future is the indefinite and continuous magnification of the present.

My current motto:

What would Blam do?

I'll tell ya what Blam would do ... Blam would bring it.  That's why she's Pam the Blam.  But, I've got news for you, Blam, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, maybe not even in a few months, but one day, one day Blam, I'ma gonna bring it harder!

My basketball nickname used to be "Malone" (after Karl Malone, a famous player) ... I miss that :).  My coach called it to me and it even read that on my water bottle.

I have so many! Here are a few...

Find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life.

"I don't drink these days. I am allergic to alcohol and narcotics. I break out in handcuffs." - Robert Downey Jr.

Love is like playing the piano, first you must learn to play by the rules, then you must forget the rules and play from your heart.

You treat the air as a canvas and the paint is the chords that come through your fingers, out of the keyboard.

"Time is still the best critic, and patience the best teacher." - Frederic Chopin

Here's my motto/mantra for today and however long:

Embracing that which feels like progressive change, with that which is and has always been a progressive, steady constant.

I used to have loads of these but now I don't remember any...  :(

But I have a couple of documents taped on the wall over this computer, which I haven't read in a while either. These passages strike home at the moment:

17. There are no great men.
18. If you have a hero, look again: you have diminished yourself in some way.
I'm sinking like a stone in the sea,
I'm burning like a bridge for your body

My motto since I started playing piano:

"If you can play it in octaves, play it in octaves" A very Lisztian way of thinking  ;D

"f*ck b*tches."

Minus the asterisks, period intentional.

I have it tattooed. On my foot.

You'd be surprised how often it keeps me from going insane with stress/getting wrapped up in others' useless drama.

Hire me, world.  :)

Hire me to sing for you, world.  And in a few years, hire me to play for you, world.  And later perhaps, hire me to compose for you, world.  And hire me to write for you, world.  And sometime hire me to draw for you, world.  And, hire me to teach some of you, world.  To be continued ...

Which is?

The aforesaid endeavors bringing vocational joy and personal fulfillment shall be subordinate to what we shall provisionally call the Eternal Mystery.

 :)

I have never actually had a choice about that, life itself has made a distinct point of it, but it is also my only reason for being a musician at all and for wanting to reach many people.  In fact, I tend to believe that the seemingly strange path and timing of my musical life has been for the purpose of indellably clarifying this exact point.

My current mantra/motto:

This is not my life's purpose, but it's imperative that I do this and enjoy it in order to fulfill my life's purpose.

Next goal for today:  Clean and clear a study space for myself.
