Albéniz – Asturias and 20 other piano pieces

Even though Isaac Albéniz actually never composed any music for guitar much of his piano music is part of the standard guitar repertoire. Asturias (Leyenda), the fifth movement from Suite Espańola, opus 47, is one example. Read more >>

I've taken to calling that Vivaldi aria "The Monkey" aria, not out of disrespect or ignorance but because it's much simpler than calling it Agitata da Due Venti.

Natalia Trull plays the end of the Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3 at the 1986 Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. She went on to win 2nd place behind Barry Douglas. Note the accurate, as-written playing of the glissando-like passages.

True.  I see many influences in that arrangement.  The ideas also flow together quite cohesively as a composition as well.

mmm? i don't understand... he looks up a lot, if that's what you mean. I don't see how that ruins it... for all you know, "Mark Farago" might be playing sat on a space hopper while being fed caviar with a spade...

The video I have posted here has been removed and I can't remember the name of the pianist. It was a clip of the ossia candenza from Rach 3. It was amazing. Any help? Sad

Edit: Ok I've found out that the pianist is Yefim Bronfman...Maybe I can find the video too Smiley

I have played it on a piano.  (Bob wonders where the innuendo thread went.)  John Williams stuff on piano can be tricky and some of it doesn't sound right -- like dissonance in strings sounding ok, but not on a piano.
