I have written a song about what happens when you eat too many beans.

Here is a picture of me giving the World Premier.

I am aware of the fact that i was indeed fat at the time.

I guess the song is in A Fart Major? ;D

I took doogs on a 3,000 mile drive around the Country. He likes to sneak inside my rucksack when in the car.

I am a little concerned that my best friend and travel companion is a mechanical dog, but i must say we have never had an argument since he was born.

Doogs was a bit upset i did not take him to see Hinty though.

Nothing like steel for a bit of comfort old chap. You cannot beat it over long distances.

Much to my shame, I still use a gel saddle cover on a carbon bike. Should be shot.

A steel bike frame is more comfortable?  Because it's heavier?  I thought cyclists always went for lighter and lighter bikes.

A steel bike frame is more comfortable?  Because it's heavier?  I thought cyclists always went for lighter and lighter bikes.

Steel is more flexible and therefore allows a more "forgiving" ride. Unlike carbon or titanium, it can also be bent back into shape if you have an accident.

Lightness is a factor and today a good road bike would be well under 20 pounds. A distinct help up hills and on long rides, but not very nice on badly surfaced roads.

I regret the evident need to answer a question with another question, but why do you ask? Is it not already clear that "fiend" and "friend" are antonyms, whether or not they are prefaced with "boy"?

I'm no cyclist so I'll take you word for all of this, but given the greater lightness of titanium and other alloys of metals low down in the periodic table which are likewise used in the more expensive end of cycle manufacture, aren't they still better as long as one avoids driving on badly surfaced roads? (like the ones round where I am which sometimes seem to have very little of the kind of surface that one would reasonably except on a taxpayer-funded road).

I once encountered someone who had one of these fancy lightweight bikes and had strapped to his back a solar panel arrangement that some clever-clogs designer colleague of his had connected to the cycle for use while driving it; how effective this was I know not although, of course, the cyclist concerned would have been well aware that its use would have disqualified him from participation in the Tour de France and such like bicycraziness...

Yes, but as you point out it is not that easy in finding the roads here in jolly old England. On a ride of 20 miles, i would expect that one of those miles is used up avoiding potholes.

Despite advances made in bike technology, steel frames will be around forever due to the cheapness and longevity.
