Sergei Taneyev. Pupil and later friend of Tchaikovsky, contemporary of the Mighty Five (with whom his relationship started frostily but later warmed), and teacher of Rachmaninoff, Medtner, Scriabin, Gretchaninoff, Gliere and Stanchinsky.

Holst actually wrote a small amount of solo piano music, which has recently been published.

I am listening to the first time I heard my wife's voice, in January, 1977. She and her sister recorded the Pangasinan love song outside their house in Pantal District, Dagupan City. I still find it one of the most attractive of Philippine traditional songs.

Artur Rubinstein - Beethoven Concerto 4.

"King Artur" at his best in all respects. Good camera work too that highlights the beautiful choreography of Rubinstein's movements.

Listening, by surprise, to Appassionata 2nd movement.  Didn't even remotely suspect to hear it on this CD.  I was completely in my own world, sorting through papers and clutter, and I suddenly have to stop and listen.  It's a very nourishing music with a lot a beautiful memories for me, and puts my being on track with itself.  Wow!  Hi :)

Earworm...

Sad.

I don't normally stop recordings midway through....  ::) but when I do, it's one like that. (Is she going to finish?  Is her voice going to break?  God, that sounds horrible.  What happened to her voice?  Not that it was great before.  Did she practice too much beforehand?  Oh geez, she's still singing.  She's probably getting paid and that's why she's putting herself, and us, through that.  Ouch.  Ouch!  Dang.  Why is she still singing?  She's going to crash soon.  Let's look on the positive side -- 80s singer, but she's still alive.  That's pretty good, right?  On and on....)

I just started learning to play classical guitar, so I am trying to listen to a wide array of guitar music in order to further educate myself of that world of music. This is a favorite of mine that I am listening to at the moment.

I'm not sure whether there are any other Jay Chou fans over here... but I am a big fan of him!

He just uploaded this on his channel last night and I've been hooked on it ever since. Been singing this while walking back home (while looking lovesick!) and there were lots of strangers giving me smiles and laughs all around! haha... so fun!

This has to be the most Chopin-like song I have ever heard, so unashamedly romantic (including the MV!) and yet so beautiful!

I've been a fan of Chou since I saw "Secret" a few years ago. I enjoyed the soundtrack of that movie immensely, and this song was enjoyable to, though I don't think Chou writes all the material himself. I wonder how much of the writing he does, but can't find any information on that because it's mostly in Chinese. Do you know? I hope he writes his material but I have a feeling he's a pop icon, like Lady Gaga for the Chinese folk.

Have you seen his improvisations? i'm sure he writes and produces all his songs by himself, but i don't think he composes the film scores though, lol.
