Whenever I do writing or anything related to graphic art, I pull out the big guns. If I didn't make album covers, I wouldn't need Sorabji in my playlists.

Medtner sonata triad, in d minor. Absolutely glorious.
And then I listened to to his c major sonata.

*** I love his op. 11 set
Too good.

I have been won over by "Suite BouAntique" by John Rutter.  At first I didn't like it because it has the sound of elevator music, at least some of it.  But it has won me over.  It's a contemporary piece.

Elevator music.  Heh.

I took a course in Synthesis and Sound Design, and we learned how to use a Prophet 08 (analog synthesizer).  I was also playing a video game called 'Fez' - an indie masterpiece in my opinion.

The music is all done with a synthesizer, with some digital instruments added.  It's a different world of music, the amount of sounds that one little machine (without access to the internet) can create.

My favorite tracks:
-Glitch, Fear, and Knowledge.

Just a really thorough use of a synthesizer.  I'm in love with this soundtrack.

===

Also my daily dose of Scriabin's 2nd Sonata - I really like Ruth Laredo's recording.  I keep finding other pieces to distract me from the nasty second movement of this piece, but I'd say hands down this is my favorite piece for piano, and will likely remain so :P

Interested in discussing:

-Prokofiev Toccata
-Scriabin Sonata 2

I had it taken down personally. It's on a CD that I understand is still available, so it's hardly fair to the artists who made it or to the record company that released it to have it stuck up there on YouTube where none gets a cent for their efforts. Yes, it's a very early Sorabji song, as are several more on that CD - so anyone interested should seek it out and go buy it! It's on Centaur, CRC 2613.

The Nyan Cat Song on youtube.   But the original, pure one.   As the original creator meant it to be heard.  I'm occasionally glancing at the image to get the full rainbow farting, pop tart, space flying effect.

And now you are too....

They don't show the director.  Haha.   ::)  I want to see who's directing...

It appears to be fake.  I smell an opportunity for an actual live version if there isn't already one out there.

This early piece from Rachmaninov is just. . . wow.

Unfortunately, the pianist and violinist here were uncited.
