why?  you've obvioiusly lost interest and gone yoonie hunting.  whilst i sit here with my bible and my husband.  seriously, he's the only one that would put up with me.

if only you could see me today.  you see, every year i dress up about this time.  i actually put on a little makeup and did up my hair.  i went to a meeting last night.  hence no late night posting.

i made this potatoe and cheese casserole, a pasta salad, and a pear and apple and cranberry tarte.  i don't know how open you are to new experiences - but if you had been here yesterday - i would have taken you (as my adopted son) and at least given you a good meal.  then we could have a picture taken by the piano.  well, and then after that - my husband would have gone and gotten a few westmall beers and asked if you wanted to watch a ballgame.  but, being that you and he are kinda large strong men, you might be the only person in a lifetime to make him wonder about the adopted son bit.

Not as much as i got for this.

Charity arm wrestle, prior to World Championships 1987.

Me had to arm wrestle 50 soldiers from the local barracks.

Not now they are made with plastic spines.

The secret of tearing one in half is to break the spine, then it is easy.

The barn owl is part of a set I did for a commission for a falconry centre, the other is a view of a lake in Finland at about two in the morning. I was spending the night in a hide which was little more than a garden shed in the swamp surrounding the lake, waiting for brown bears to turn up.

I will post a couple of bears when I find the CD with them on...

What kind of phone book though? Thomson Local, Yellow Pages? How thick must a book be to be 'phone book thickness' and for you to rip it as part of a bet?

Elspeth, that second picture is amazing. I'm getting spine chills ^_^

Thanks for the kind words... spine chills is right though, it was flippin' freezing in that shed when the mist came down! Although it was breathtaking when a bear would just wander out of the mist... they always did it when the light was bad though so the pics aren't all as good as they might have been. I'm a terrible critic of my own work...

I found the CD! Here we have two bears and a wolverine. Apologies for the bad quality of the first one, there was practically no light and I haven't got round yet to doing the work it needs to really bring it up to standard. Anyway... The first bear was only 18 months old, his mum had just recently kicked him out to go fend for himself while she had a fling with her new boyfriend... the second bear is his mum. The wolverine has nothing to do with X-men, oddly enough... it's a bigger, tougher version of a pine martin.

these are cool pics.  i didn't realize some photographers waited so long for the right shots.  all night in a freezing shed.  and, if i understand bears correctly - you didn't have much food around either.

It's not easy... I was in that shed for fourteen hours every night for a week... and would cheerfully have stayed there another week or two if I could to have improved the photos! You could take plenty of food, fruit or sandwiches - just nothing the bear might smell and think hmm, lunch... and flasks of tea or coffee and plenty of water. And a sleeping bag to help keep out the cold...

lagin, we could be sisters with the hairstyles.  i also have long hair and bangs.  my hairstyle depends on the weather.  it's straighter in the dry weather and curlier in the rain.  my hairstylist today asked if i had a perm.  i said, 'no, it's just like this in humid weather.'  you have very lovely brown eyes and full lips.  sort of modelish you are!

what happened to the grill on the front?  or is that natural airconditioning to the engine.  or, does the car eat anything that crosses the street.  actually, going at high speed - that could be a new invention.  increased speed - eats anything in it's way.

*are those thal's cross bows in the back?

**i really like the car, too.  but, the side exhaust turns me off.  it brings the exhaust too close to the passengers unless it burns clean.  can you vent it into the cross bows and out the back?

***is that a magnetic wrench stuck to the front?  this car looks like it will have many strange experiences.

****oh.  i see.  golf clubs not cross bows.
