Most people today don't understand and appreciate the value of hard work. People usually look for a simple shortcut, without knowing how important it is to truely devote yourself to a goal, and giving everything you have to achieve it. Most of the people I know just live their lives running from one thing to another in order to get what they want and be feel satisfied, but I think true satisfaction only comes from giving oneself completely to what one wants out of life.
This angers me.
How can people live their lives without knowing how joyful it is to devote yourself to something? It could be playing piano, or studying what you love, or even running a store or something. But you have to give it your 100%, without constantly running after something else - a new house, a better phone, a more important job, meeting madona, etc.

Interesting though process -- Assume I'm wrong or missing some detail (which makes me wrong).  Do a task anyway.

That and having energy to actually do stuff.  I haven't quite figured out the energy part.

when creationists use incorrect variations of scientific laws to "disprove" theories

when creationists think that reciting their one liners is somehow more credible than the large body of knowledge accumulated by experts.

exhibit A:

"2nd law of thermodynamics states that order leads to disorder, therefor the big bang theory and theory of evolution is false. xDDDDDDDDDDDDDD I'm so smart"

Not taking into account that the second law of thermodynamics only applies to closed systems, which the Earth is not, as it gets heat from the Sun.
If you want to know how TRULY informed they are about thermodynamics, ask them about the other laws of thermodynamics.

you dont even need to go that far, they can't even explain to you what the 2nd law is. what they recite is some oversimplified middle aged bull crap

the language they use to describe it is incredibly imprecise and unscientific.
you need quantifiable definitions not crap like lmfaO "disorder"

and then when you properly explain to them the basics of thermodynamics you get shot down with
"lmao you have been brainwashed"

Thinking of guitar more than piano these days. Not sure if that is fortunate or unfortunate. Love looking at my guitars. Cant say that about my keyboard. Now only if I can play the guitars well.

Chopin's 13th nocturne. Everybody has always told me how beautiful it is but I just now realized it's true beauty. By playing it. I feel like crying every time I hear or play it.

You don't hear about the instrument itself being too attractive(?) in that it distracts from the performance, although I could see that to some extent.

I seem to be stuck technically.  Things don't get faster.  Stretches still feel stiff.

I'm thinking progress might take more of a concentrated effort, including a bit of pushing and pain.

I actually feel a bit bad.  So many years have gone by.  I always meant to return and feed my neopet or do whatever you do with them....

I just searched and found my neopet log in info.  I tried to log in but it doesn't recognize me at all.

This means my neopet must be long gone.  It's been about 16 years since I feed it last I believe.

Injury and recovery.  Being about to chart that out so I can see progress, despite there being a set back.  (The original path/goal wasn't realistic then.)

And habit.  Negative elements of sticking with a habit.

Being sick for a longer length of time vs. just being more aware of being sick.

I thought I was getting better this evening.  Then it changed and my mind is starting to chart out the best items for holding supper again and the most efficient paths to them.

I heard a bird whistle the notes of the Ur song this morning.  La, sol, mi.  I would imagine it was random or it heard those pitches somewhere else.  I was wondering if there was any chance the Ur song is ingrained like it might be for people.

Just do the beat before as a prep/breath.  That's all you need to establish the tempo.

It is a fallacy bc it is not a life's mystery and it is not inherent in the definition of pianist.

To me it seems arrogant to say that, in this enormous universe, that a) there is a given purpose that we can assign to anything or b) that we can know, much less at the age of 16..

Interesting. I guess we can disagree on that. Too bad public schools are trashing today's youth so they expect all 16 year olds to be infested with video games and brainwashing teachers and not doing research by themselves simply for the pursuit of truth.

Btw value (i mean come on, its a beneficiary question...valuable to whom?) is subjective, it can't be intrinsic.  ::)

To be honest I would not blame everyone else but also the youth itself. Large percentage of them seem to be little interested in anything else than entertainment and material things. And stupidity seems to be really contageous...

If you look at history young people have always been subjected to the existing beliefs of their elders and their education was often very one-sided. Yet they managed to create all kinds of novel and revolutionary ideas when they grew up. I think what's stopping todays youth (and all of us really) from developing intellectually is all the fun and easy technology which simply doesn't leave time to engage in deeper thinking.

meh, it has ALWAYS been like that. the majority benefit from the brilliance of a few. while his generation were busy looking for wives to start families, gain wealth, maxwell was busy deriving equations and unifying electromagnetism....

It's the same story, never changes, despite the era. I have friend who's a MATH WIZZ, like the dude is super brilliant. While everyone is out partying, obsessively playing video games, posting on pianostreet, and so on the dude is busy reading and making his own alternative proofs.  :-X :-X :-X :-X :-X :-X :-X :-X :-X

like damn yo

History filters out the useless people like you and I, so naturally we tend too look back at it through the eyes of brilliant people, leading us to think: "wow, people back then were so awesome!" No!

In a way you are right of course. But I'm afraid at least where I come from it is becoming more common for people to be passive and more focused on things that seem a bit ridiculous from an objective viewpoint. Even adults.
