Most people today don't understand and appreciate the value of hard work. People usually look for a simple shortcut, without knowing how important it is to truely devote yourself to a goal, and giving everything you have to achieve it. Most of the people I know just live their lives running from one thing to another in order to get what they want and be feel satisfied, but I think true satisfaction only comes from giving oneself completely to what one wants out of life.
This angers me.
How can people live their lives without knowing how joyful it is to devote yourself to something? It could be playing piano, or studying what you love, or even running a store or something. But you have to give it your 100%, without constantly running after something else - a new house, a better phone, a more important job, meeting madona, etc.

Not taking into account that the second law of thermodynamics only applies to closed systems, which the Earth is not, as it gets heat from the Sun.
If you want to know how TRULY informed they are about thermodynamics, ask them about the other laws of thermodynamics.

the language they use to describe it is incredibly imprecise and unscientific.

I actually feel a bit bad.  So many years have gone by.  I always meant to return and feed my neopet or do whatever you do with them....

To be honest I would not blame everyone else but also the youth itself. Large percentage of them seem to be little interested in anything else than entertainment and material things. And stupidity seems to be really contageous...

If you look at history young people have always been subjected to the existing beliefs of their elders and their education was often very one-sided. Yet they managed to create all kinds of novel and revolutionary ideas when they grew up. I think what's stopping todays youth (and all of us really) from developing intellectually is all the fun and easy technology which simply doesn't leave time to engage in deeper thinking.

It's the same story, never changes, despite the era. I have friend who's a MATH WIZZ, like the dude is super brilliant. While everyone is out partying, obsessively playing video games, posting on pianostreet, and so on the dude is busy reading and making his own alternative proofs.
