Hi, I'm Peter. I've been playing piano since I was 9 (which in my opinion was a late start) and have been playing piano for 15 years now. I have completed a Degree in music Education and have taught a few years in High Schools as a classroom Music teacher, and I'm now trying to get into Private Piano teaching.

I'm currently trying to obtain my Fellowship in Music on the piano, and hope to finally try and compete in Major Piano Competitions (despite my late start).

And I used to be called 'Mr Perfect Pitch' in High School because there was nothing I got wrong and now use it to my ability to notate and transcribe music.

Welcome, have fun :)

Hi all,
I have never really officaly introduced myself and I thought I would, it's kind of funny how you can tell who the big "posters"  are, and how people begin to be connected through this forum. I joined pianostreet last summer, and I have been loving it!!!! it's great to get on here and read what people are thinking!!!

I have been playing piano for about 5 years now, I got a rather late start I was 13. I did take a few lessons when I was about 6 and I hated it so I stopped I have regreted it because I think of how far along I could be if I would not have quit but I did and there's nothing I can do about it now but move forward even faster.

I have really appreciated the helpful tips people have given me. I do play a lot of different music I play classical, sacred (alot of sacred) and some modern, jazz (not too much jazz though) I would say my favorite to play is sacred music, I feel like I can really worship God through the music that I play for Him!!!

Well is was fun introducing myself to you all!!!! lol!!!  ;D

Hello, everybody, I am Chris. I played Piano, when I was young ( 7 or so (I can't even remember...)till the age of 20 something. I took up piano playing lessons again when I was 40 for about 5 years and - at the moment  - I have no teacher but look for one. I love Brahms and Mendellsohn, Bach and Chopin. I appreciate this forum very much: a lot of supportive comments and very good pieces of advice for practising...
kind regards to all
Chris

Hi..!
I am obviously new. Well, here goes a try of decent introduction..
You can call me Dolly, or Lo, or Dolly Lo.. Bah, it doesn't matter. I'm from Spain (sorry my bad and poooor english  :-[ I hope to improve it).
I play the piano since I was 13. I lost all past year for medical reasons. And now, with 15 years I have started to take lessons again. In short, I have been playing piano for about less than two years.

I'm not in a conservatory, but I'm studing for the access exams.

My favourite composer is Chopin, but I consider Bach my teacher, haha. Now I'm working on a Chopin waltz (op. 69 no. 2, beautiful!) and I'm going to start with Bach sinfonias.

Uf, It has been hard to write this..

I  do not take piano playing seriously and I don't want to be a profesional although I love it and it's my passion. I don't think I will be ever able to stop with it :-*.

Hi there.
I'm only a beginner myself, doing things on my own tempo and on autodidact. Thus I try to be rather active at specialized piano communities

Hi!  I just got signed up last week.  I'm a pianist with a BM '86.  Did not pursue grad. school in performance but instead entered the business field.  I went back to college in the early 90's and recieved my education degree.  I have been teaching 6th grade since then--not music however.  I play piano at my church and haven't done much with repertoire until I was asked to be a guest artist in a co-recital at a small college this past spring.  Wow!   I have missed the work SO very much, and it was good to revive some of my favorites for this program.  I am now motivated to pursue my passion once again, and I have the summer months to do so when I'm not driving my children to swim lessons and other summer activities.  I've enjoyed the forums so far and have in mind a variety of works to occupy my time over the course of the summer.

So what repertoire do you have in mind to study this summer?  And by the way, congratulations on finding your way back to the piano and starting again the study of serious repertoire.  Enjoy yourself!

hi everybody...
i wonder whether i have introduced myself or not....
since i haven't been here for such a long time....probably 2 years...
That's a long time, isn't it?!
I was quite busy during these two years because of my O-Level study...
OK....so let me introduce myself!!
I am Bernard from Hong Kong.
I'm 16 years old and I'm a Form 5 ART student.
I do 8 subjects, namely, Chinese Language, English Language, Maths, Chinese History, World History, Chinese Literature, Economics and Geography
I have been playing piano for around 8 years
I passed DipABRSM 2 years ago and I LOVE playing piano(i think everyone here does!!!)LOL
And i play the flute as well...though i'm not a very good player @@
I play on a twenty-something-year-old yamaha upright...and i hope that i could get a new one really soon!!!! I own a Sankyo flute, which is probably even more expensive than my piano = = though my main instrument is piano!!
I listen to a wide range of music...orchestral, chamber, choral, piano solo music are all my favourite...Other than classical music, i also enjoy listening to some pop, country, though classical music is always my favourite type of music. I HATE ROCK MUSIC
My favourite composers are...bascially...Robert Schumann, Schubert, Bach, Ravel, Mozart and Prokofiev, Mahler. Actually my preference changes from time to time. But Schumann is my all-time favourite. I love the passion, dynamic contrast, unique melodic structure and the unpredictable mood and character of his music.
My best favourite pianist is Martha Argerich. Her technique is not the main reason behind. That is her use of different tone colours, her own special, outstanding ideas on music and her imagination which impresses me a lot. Though people always mention her Chopin when they talk about her, i don't think Chopin is argerich's best. I cannot say that it's not good...but she can do a lot better with other composers' pieces. Her Schumann, Ravel are jewels. Her passion, her imagination suits Schumann and Ravel a lot. Despite that fact that she plays few Bach, her Bach recordings are absolutely fantastic! Listen to her Partita no. 2, Toccata in C minor and you will find out what I'm talking about.

Other than music, i have quite a lot of other interest as well. I love hanging out with friends in shopping centers, shopping, hiking, going to beach. I love travelling as well, though i seldomly go to travel since my parents are quite busy.
I am looking forward to studying music in university...though i am still not quite sure about that...I would defintely go ahead if i am rich enough to study music abroad. But i'm afraid that i am not that wealthy to do it. Besides, music colleges in Hong Kong do not seem to have a high standard...when compared to those in the UK, US and other places in Europe. That's the reason why i'm not quite certain about what i'm going to do in the future. Can somebody give me some opnions??

wait just a minute. You go to school? I didn't know you had to go to school when you're homeschooled. Didn't you say you were homeschooled? I thought you were homeschooled because you are so advanced. And I think I would know...seeing that I've been homeschooled for about 8 years now.

Homeschooling?  :-\ Normal HS all the way !  ;D

I am Jeniko (a mix of Jeni and 'ko', a nickname courtesy of a friend).

I'm 17, and a mother of a very special 1 year old baby.

My black baby grand, that is. <33333

I live in great ol' Aus.

And yes, I do ride a kangaroo to school.  ::)

Feel free to stalk/chew/stab buzz me. I like chatting. Random chatting is nice. =) Though music-related chatting is good too. xP By the way; I have only one requirement. Literacy. English is my fourth language, and I support proper grammar yo.

Gotta admire the loving atmosphere in here, aye? ;]
I rawr at you.

Greetings All,

I am new here, a self-taught (well, trying to self-teach) student from Scotland. From my quick browse of the site (will look at it in greater depth when I can, there appears to be a variety of characters from numerous countries and I hope to be able to share great conversations with you all.
