Hey guys, I've actually been here before but didn't really post anything so I'm gonna introduce myself. I'm 24, I'm from Mexico, I play piano for a living and passion and can't think of doing anything else. Although I'm good at Math, Physics and exact sciences I cannot live without playing the piano, so I gave it all up and now I'm a pianist (if I can call myself that). I'm no wunderkind of any kind but I practice and work hard and love to hear recordings of the greatest like Michelangeli, Cortot, Rachmaninoff and so on.
Btw, Happy new year!

P.S. You mention you like Rachmaninoff? Well, avoid my thread in the "Student's Corner" board because it would only be another person to disagree with me! :D

LOL...yeah, best not to. The way that thread is going, people will be crying for me to be burned at the stake for not liking Rachmaninoff.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy PianoStreet! :)

Thanks! Btw, you say you don't like Rachmaninoff as a composer, how about as a pianist? just curiosity. Seems you don't have a wide impression of him if you have only heard 3 pieces so you will probably not like his playing, but for me he's one of the best

OK I'll dive in.... I'm Jess, my husband wanted a piano for Christmas, I didn't think I'd ever fool with it but now I find I'm playing it all the time; I played for a few years as a kid and somehow completely forgot??? lol  But I'm having a great time w/ it; I'll probably just lurk and search a lot for the time being, which i've been doing for the last week or so but I thought I may as well introduce myself since y'all seem like a friendly group.  *waves*  ;D

hi everybody,
my name is Hristo Turlakov and i`m from Bulgaria,Europe
I play piano since  I`m six and I study at the Academy of Music and Fine Arts in Plovdiv,Bulgaria for 1 year. Before this Ihave studied lots of things-such as English Filology,European Studies, but I have mastered none of them, searching for myself in life.Due to not my parents, but a forthcoming friend of mine and my teacher at the academy now I decided to try to prepare myself, which was really hard, because I had one month to prepare one 1st part of Beethoven Sonata and Bach`s Prelude and fuge,by heart of course, for the Musical Pedagogy(for the instrumental class i must know Chopoin`s or Liszt etude, whole Beethoven Sonata,Bach`s prelude and fuge,a piece such as Chopin`s Ballade or Fantasy-Impromtu for example, a piece from a contemporary author and one piece from Bulgarian author(Pancho Vladigerov is the most famous you may know) which is impossible I think to do for one month,and.....not to forget the compulsory Solfegio for both-the Musical Pedagogy or the Instrumental Class, which I  took lessons too, because I have studied Solfegio for 3 years when I was 6,7,8 years old and I was forgot almost everything!Must say that I have been studying in a language school, not in a Musical one,but i have played the whole years from 6-18 years of age on private teacher ,but I can say that my piano level was and is now pretty good,so,the miracle happened and i took the two exams for musical pedagogy and this year my dream of life comes true-i study at the academy and i am preparing hard as never for the instrumental class!!!
For the youngers here ,in this forum-do not do like me-wandering myself, studying so many things i have never liked,do what your heart wants you to do,no matter what it is...my heart always told me-piano,but you know-it`s better to do it late, than to do it never!!!
play hard friends,nice forum!!! :)

Hi,  I'm a piano instructor of 17 students.  I'm a new member and have been enjoying it.  I have been at the chat room early this morning visiting with someone from Turkey.  I also sing, play violin and guitar.  I love music.  I wish I could play music all day long, but there are other things that needs to get done during the day.  I can play piano for hours.  I have been posting and hope to get acquianted with some of you.  Best regards!   :)

Hello all,

My name is Lyn and I play piano and numerous brass instruments (mainly French Horn). I have played brass for 14 years and piano for 8. I am currently 22 years of age. I teach brass to a couple of people and I learn piano in my spare time. I look forward to getting advice and having conversations with you all. :)

I am originally from North Wales, however I spent some time in Ohio, America. I returned to Wales as I did not like living in America (apologies to American citizens on this site!)

Hi Piano Street members!

I'm 17 years old, have been living in Vienna for almost three years. I'm studying at the Vienna Conservatory on scholarship, currently on my 2nd year of ''Diplom'' studies. I've been playing since 4 (my mother was my first piano teacher). I find Piano Street a great help. Aside from certain topics  you don't normally get to talk about with other people, it always inspires me whenever I meet those with the same passion I have for music.

Good luck and God bless to everyone here. :)

Hey... I'm peter and I'm an alcoho...          (Wait, wrong forum)    :o

Hi, I'm Peter. I've been playing piano since I was 9 (which in my opinion was a late start) and have been playing piano for 15 years now. I have completed a Degree in music Education and have taught a few years in High Schools as a classroom Music teacher, and I'm now trying to get into Private Piano teaching.

I'm currently trying to obtain my Fellowship in Music on the piano, and hope to finally try and compete in Major Piano Competitions (despite my late start).

And I used to be called 'Mr Perfect Pitch' in High School because there was nothing I got wrong and now use it to my ability to notate and transcribe music.
