I guess I should reintroduce myself.

I'm 17 and live in southern New England, and will continue to live in the rocky soils for at least another 4 years. I stopped playing piano about 2 years ago, but since I have this summer free, I started to learn new pieces again.

I really like Brahms's Bb sextet and Bruckner's 7th symphony. I used to be very set in what I could and could not play, but I've shaken it off and become more open-minded now.

Hey everyone,
thought i might as well introduce myself even though i've been signed up on this site for ages, oops...
I'm 17 soon to be 18 (woohoo!), been playing piano since I was 6 and am at grade 8 currently. I teach 4 students up to grade 4 as a second job. I live in Australia and am currently studying IT. I also play clarinet (grade 5), I sing and can play really basic drums, violin and sax.
Think that's about it, nice to meet everyone!

Hi, I thought Id introduce myself..  Like some my mother gave me numerous piano lession as a child...Her mother always had a grand piano.. I was even in numerous talent shows in junior high, high school, local,  among the family and even at my alma mater Boston University.. And like many lads I never appreciated this like I do now.. Boston U. even had a School of Fine Arts. At the time I just didnt want to make the paino my career, although there is slight regret..
Instead I have a stronger passion for medicine: Starting with when I was only about 4 years of age I urinated in a pediatricians face and said to myself "only a doctor could take this"!  I decided at this early age I wanted the tortuous, mild mannered, people oriented field of medicine.
I went to Med School in Mexico, passed Step 1 of the Medical boards (there are 3 enduring parts) in order to start an internship.. To support my self I am licensed in 2 states New York/ New Jersey as a pain manage/primary care Physician Assistant..
I hope to meet like minded especially females who have passion for music and healing..Sorry to ramble

Nice to meet you. Enjoy your stay!

LOL, I understand you can't practice much piano if you're studying medicine. My sister is a doctor, and has these BIG eyebags. But you can still play for enjoyment, even take up another hobby. Doctors need days off, too.

Hi, everyone. I've been reading this forum for some years, and now I start posting.  :)

I'm 19 years old, been playing synthesizer ( :() since I was 11, but I got myself a piano and started playing seriously only at the age of 15. What I think is great about this forum is the audition room, where I hope I'll get some of my recordings up soon, and I have already started commenting on other people's recordings to the best of my ability. Looking forward to participating in this great place!

Well, I did come and go, so it wasn't all that time.  :) Also, I don't think it was possible to post here without subscribing until a while ago. Or am I wrong?

Synth is a nice instrument, but not for learning the piano.  :)

You should ask bernhard how he finds his links. And get DVORAK.
I'd want to do it, but I haven't been here since the beginning. With a few more hands, I think it's possible. This forum isn't even that old.

Hi, I am "cmg," formerly known as "gmc," and possibly to be known as "mgc."

And, speaking for the forum, I just want to welcome m1469's cyber-transformation into Karli.  I mean, what's in a name?  A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.   ;)

Well, I have always been of the mind that should Bernhard wish to say how he gets his links and whether he has his own index, it is his place to divulge what he wants to divulge, not mine.

You may think what you like, but it's a huge (and thankless) project (and is everlasting  :P) -- why do you think nobody's completed it yet ?  Have at it :).  Anyway, Nils et al. seems to be already indexing the forum to some respect.  There are posts gathered, for example, with some of the pieces listed in the sheetmusic section of PS.

Other than that, there is some form of it being pointless unless it's for your own personal reasons, since if you are interested in a particular subject, all you have to do is "search" for it and that search brings up all threads related to that subject.  It's already indexed in a way.

That is why we need more hands (and brains)! There are some topics of general concern, and a sort of FAQ would help to avoid topics being duplicated. Bob mentioned the index in the speed thread recently. Then bernhard came back and gave his usual dose of links.

Well I just joined, so I'll introduce myself here.
My name's John, I'm 16 and am going to my local community college's music program. I've played piano most of my life, but I had never pushed myself to learn much classical, so I'm only just now getting into that that with Bach inventions and a Chopin Waltz.
I really want to become a composer for movies and video games, so I'm working real hard towards that.
Currently working on
Chopin: Waltz 34/2 in Am [polishing]
Debussy: Clair De Lune [paused currently]
Mozart: Sonata 5 K283 in G 1st movement [polishing]
Bach: Sinfonia 4 in Dm [halfway through]

I’ve been a member for a little while, but, since I haven’t introduced myself, I’ve felt like a lurker. Hence, hello.

I fell in love with classical music at 15, started studying piano and worked hard to make up for lost time, went to college as a composition major, and quit because of my stupid lack of confidence and inferiority complexes.

I started playing again at 49 when my wife and I inherited a terrible, ancient Wurlitzer console piano that had stood for a few weeks in the flood waters from Hurricane Agnes. (I live in Northeast Pennsylvania.) I finally bought a Yamaha CLP-115, and am pretty happy with it. If I could, I’d get a real piano, but at this point I can’t even afford a teacher, let alone a quality acoustic piano. I'm now 53, and regret it deeply.

Since I don’t have a teacher, I read everything I can about technique, and that’s what brought me to this forum. I don’t know how much help I can be to anyone here, but I’m sure many of you can be of help to me.

Thanks, and, again, hello.
