Something didn't seem right so I searched it up.
Turns out that I'm right on the cusp between Y and Z, tending towards Z.
My mistake. :/

I feel Gen Y is better than Gen Z because we watched this technology come to use. We've used it since its birth almost and learned to adapt with it.

You guys just take it for granted.

However will p_p survive such a battle?

Yep. XD
@liszt-and-the-galops
Are you crazy? Of the pieces that you showed me* (which you claimed were harder than La Campanella), I can only see a few of them (Comme le Vent, Arpeggio, maybe Spanish Fantasy) being as hard as Hungarian Rhapsody no. 2.

Also, you do realize that the video you sent for Grand Galop Chromatique is sped up, right?

*[those not mentioned in this post being Hammerklavier, Petrushka, Chopin's Double Thirds, and Scriabin's 7th Sonata. I also specifically used S. 140 Arpeggio, not S. 141.]
He also said his favorite pianist was Rousseau. ::)

And if people are daft enough to believe what the advertising companies on TV are selling them, or the adverts in their paper, then unfortunately it's Darwinism in motion.

You get *** Coco-pops telling you it's full of calcium... who the *** are they kidding. It's the milk that's full of calcium. I'm pretty sure Coco-pops have about as much nutritional content as the cardboard box and plastic wrapping it's contained within.

Traum piano is a W fs
but Rousseau is appealing to non-pianists because he chooses the select few that he knows will be popular among everyone else, while traum plays everything that deserves to be played
also Chopin39 the recording isn't sped up I don't know how you got that and la Campanella is nowhere near the hardest lol

I don't watch Synthesia pianists... I prefer to see their hands move from different angles, the relaxation in the hands - the graceful leaps and jumps in the bass, their body language.

Based on the other thread, you dislike them because they're either bad or they fake it, and Traum does neither of those things.
At the very least, check out his non-synthesia channels (Sung Chang, Traumian, Traum Radio).

I don't really care for Truam's graphics, because if we were comparing graphics, which we definitely aren't, Rousseau wins. But Traum's piano playing is just amazing to listen to. As a student, I find it extremely peaceful to put his videos on one tab and then work and study on other things.

No... not even close. I hate them because they depend on silly visualisations to get views. I hate them because they give a false sense of hope to people out there who think "I've been taking piano lessons for 2 months now... I want to learn La Campanella - I'll just watch this video 10,000x and try and copy the notes they play in the order they play it"...

...and then wonder why a year later can't even remotely play even the intro from it... or if they can - they're practically spasming to play the notes in a clunky manner.

They get millions and millions of views and attract people to listening/watching piano, if you want to be a jealous fuddy duddy and cry about it go ahead, it's not going to change that it actually is beneficial to the world of piano unlike some arrangements people try to peddle and wonder why no one cares as much.

Making them copy & paste like a rote-playing monkey... that's not beneficial to anyone. That's actually a hindrance to them.

No - actually, haven't had to wipe away any tears away. I will take tissue and use it to wipe up the mess that is usually students who have come to me either learning from Simply piano or those terrible synthesia videos and struggling to figure out why their hands are cramping from poor relaxation in their playing, or the inability to play any sheet music they've gotten off the internet.

Also, those arrangements have made me plenty of money, and same went with the Apple Music arrangements I made, so given your statement I can only imagine that someones...

Wow so jealous, so many pianists use such systems with great success and connect to piano without issue. You don't even have enough experience to make the judgements you are making you just look at a minisule sample space and have come to the wrong conclusions because you have no idea how to build upon their experience outside your stringent teaching style.  Merely teach in your close minded fashion and feel insecure with any other method that goes against your own traditional values and attitudes, it's obvious to see and why you must use the tissue :)

What the heck are you talking about? What cease & desist notifications? It's legal and my arrangements are promoted through Musicnotes and Apple Music, all reputable store fronts.

I don't know what it is you meant by that, but you don't seem to be informed at all. And it's not closed-mindedness... I've had to help a lot of students in the past who relied on those silly videos, and when they get serious about playing piano and trying to read it they come with a serious handicap of trying to play things by ear repeatedly in a slip-shod manner attempting to replicate what they hear until it's right with no sense of logic or consistency (unless you have perfect pitch and can identify the notes with 100% accuracy like I can). I've been teaching full time for over 15 years now in various schools and with private students, so maybe my sample space isn't as minisule miniscule as you might think.

Closed-mindedness, my arse; and while we're speaking of it - that's what I do with said tissues... Wipe my arse with them...

"Sheet music is unfortunately unavailable as per a takedown notice given by Warner and Disney Music" lol. Now make sure you follow the rules in the future ok. Your videos have no where near enough views to compete wirh popular falling notes videos, infact one single falling note video could easily eclipse all of your videos in one go. Here's one with 50million views with falling notes playing lol, don't get too upset it's so popular and engaging.

Very close minded the only sample space you have is a tiny portion, or do you want to proclaim you've had a study of thousands of individuals on this exact thing? I have, how about yourself? Get off your high horse, you have very little expertise in such things and clearly show your limited and close minded approach.

That's because most people need to play the video a million times in order to finally figure out how to play the piece... don't give me that 'more views means it's better' bullshit. Jackass was immensely popular but it was basically just morons kicking themselves in the crotch and beating each other with bats.

And that music was available for years - it was just recently they had finally decided not to allow 3rd party arrangements. Not sure why, but I made plenty of money from it LEGALLY before it was taken down.

You started crying about the way someone expresses themselves when they clearly highlight your irrational attitude

Mate... there was no crying of any type. If you think the meagre comments you make about my teaching methods are tearing me up inside... you're *** kidding yourself.

Irrational attitude? The need to teach people properly instead of copying a video is irrational???

There's no sadness here... and I didn't use those tissues on my face, as per my last post... although I could probably use your comments now to do the same.

Those videos I gave as an example has nothing to do with trying to learn them, it is about engaging and being interested in how piano music can be played/learned. If your pig headedness cannot see that if one user can generate 50million+ views is something significant then your head certainly is buried deep. It absolutely eclipses your own attempts at gaining views.

And that music was available for years - it was just recently they had finally decided not to allow 3rd party arrangements. Not sure why, but I made plenty of money from it LEGALLY before it was taken down.
You mean they didn't notice and when they did your sales dropped to zero on those.

Mate... there was no crying of any type. If you think the meagre comments you make about my teaching methods are tearing me up inside... you're *** kidding yourself.
Your head is stuck in your own safety bubble. It still doesn't limit the fact that falling notes and "flashy lights" videos are something quite significant to the experience of piano and that you detest them shows an illogical/irrational attitude as you should promote things all piano being an so called educator of the discipline.

Irrational attitude? The need to teach people properly instead of copying a video is irrational???
Again this highlights your close mindedness, this is something we addressed also in another thread where you tried to disparage the system. The fact that so many people actually benefit from it and connect to piano through it is amazing and should be encouraged. There are many approaches to learning the piano, just because you fail to understand how to use more than just your own narrow teaching method doesn't mean that other avenues are bad, it just means you have no idea how to use them. You take it too far and in yiur insecurity attempt to condemn anything other than what you are comfortable with, it's a narrow minded teaching approach which will leave you all the poorer.

There's no sadness here... and I didn't use those tissues on my face, as per my last post... although I could probably use your comments now to do the same.
You cry about x10000 comments and tell people to grow up, so you started all this crying. It's just clearly pointed out you're close minded and refuse to change which leaves you all the poorer as a non senior music teacher.

I win.

Oh, I was just playing the Hamelin from Peters.  Child's play, really.

Because it hurts when people are called up about their attitudes x 150000 they just lose.

Hell no... we've been at this for the long run. You think we're going to let some newbie win a thread that's been going on for over a decade???

Sorry - but that would send the wrong message.

No... not even close.

1. Some of them don't depend on "silly visualizations" to get views. I again point to Traum/Sung Chang.
2. No one in their right mind actually does that, ffs.

1. Again, no one in their right mind actually decides to learn using those synthesia videos; they're aren't even claimed to be tutorials in the first place.
Simply Piano, who the f*ck knows what's going on with it.

Mate... there was no crying of any type.

1. NOBODY USES THOSE THINGS FOR TUTORIALS.
1.1 And if anyone does, it's their problem for being dumb as a brick.
2. p_P, you have an irrational attitude.
Oh, ignore lostinidlewonder... nobody takes him seriously.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
You've been on this forum 20 years longer than me, and you STILL haven't picked up on it?
Are you really that self-absorbed? XD

You did for me ;D

And by the way, don't try posting that "have a nice day" meme. It was a little funny the first time, and then it's just gotten dumber and dumber each subsequent time.

You'll survive... you always have.

You still have to use the horrible Courier New font... don't you?

Better than that dogshite typeface where 1 and l look the damned same as I.

Monospace, too.

And it's Courier, not Courier New, you whelp!

Perhaps I shall buy that clavichord after all.  Old ways are the best.
