My grandpa is still alive at 105 years old, you have no chance he'll outlive you easily.

What was the point of that... you mention your grandpa is 105 and there there's no chance he'll outlive me...

Rather redundant... don't you think? Rather obvious actually...

Or, if you were referring to the point that your grandpa is very old and you might have a chance of living to 105, then that's not always true. You could be struck by a car tomorrow and be killed by some idiotic motorist on the road who drives poorly.

Quite well, actually. What pieces have you been practicing?

Czerny!  Actually, that is true....I always work on fundamentals, usually based on some ideas out of Czerny, but more interested in repertoire maintenance and memorization of mostly Bach fugues, Engl Stes, Partitas, and middle-period Beethoven.  Not a lot of time for free-reading these days.

Not particularly technically challenging, but my time is more spent on developing better footwork at the Hammond organ, and, (I know, I know) fooling around with the damned guitar (mostly knowing the fretboard well enough to work from figured bass indications and include upper extensions, i.e., above the octave, ad libitum....plus the technique is extremely different from anything learned at the keyboard).

I consider the guitar work more or less general musicianship training....ear-training, for example (no, I do not have absolute pitch, and even with a reference tone, am not able to transcribe with pencil and paper chords or even more complicated melodies in real time at any brisk tempo...not with any kind of perfect accuracy... so it's not time wasted IMHO).  Plus, my horrid technical ability at the guitar rules out fluffing over individual pitches from muscle memory or engrained patterns.

Also, did you know that:

The meaning is obvious, dumb*ss.
His grandpa, who is currently 105 years old, will easily outlive you.

No, I did not know that. Thanks for sharing! :)

Shut up, he will live to 210 and you'll never reach even 105.

Mr Obvious is trying to be obvious and obviously losing to this post, so oblivious.

I'm not afraid of murderers because I am the murderer. I'm also not afraid of kidnappers because I'll kidnap them. I'm not afraid of bad drivers because I'll run everyone else over first. Genetics like to miss a generation so I'll live to 220 obviously.

1) He won't live to 210 - heck statistically he most likely won't even make it to 110... I'd make sure his will is in order.
2) You were the one being obvious - so does that make you Mr Obvious, who was being obvious and obviously losing so obliviously?
3) That's not how genetics works... so not how it works.

You didn't read it properly, did you? You seem to have a problem with comprehension of the English language.

You still won't outlive him. You need to think outside your closed box of perception and move to relative observation rather than a fixated one, maybe you won't be so wrong all the time then, lol.

Mr Obvious obviously is the one who used the word obvious first which obviously is you Mr Obvious.

3) That's not how genetics works... so not how it works.
Your Google powers are weak. A genetic trait can skip one or more generations without being apparent due to the complexity of inheritance patterns and the presence of various factors that can influence the expression of genes.

That's great... not only will you have a double degree after finishing University, but you'll truly understand the meagre pay you'll be receiving in the future in relation to your hard work, and also know exactly why the *** you're getting screwed over.

Sounds delightful.

Well, let me tell you then - the odds of him living to 110 are approximately 1 in 2,000,000 or 0.00005% - which is only 5 years away.

The odds of me living the next 5 years are essentially 99.98%.

I like those odds... and even a Princeton student will tell you that my odds are far better.

Maybe your brain is unable to make relative adjustments. Let me make it easier for you. Pretend he is the same age as you now and will live to 105+, he will easily outlive you. The chances he makes it to 110 is much greater than yours, go back to the piano your maths skills are killing puppies. Crushing win defeats you.

No - I understand what you're saying there... but you're completely wrong.

I never said I would live to 110, my statement was that I will outlive him. By definition, to outlive someone is to remain alive while the other person is deceased and considering I am much younger than him - the odds of me outliving him are far greater.

That wasn't a crushing win - that was just embarrassing on your part. You tried to warp the facts to fit your narrative without properly reading what I wrote.

Again, I never said I'd live to 110. Clearly the inability to comprehend lies with you. Also... he might not live to 105+... again, he could die tomorrow, or before his 106th birthday.

Had me confused at first.
Then I got it. lol.

Didn't know you played organ. Is it better or worse than piano?

Well, I play jazz organ on the Hammond....it can be extremely demanding and subtle, and one needs to have perfect time, speed, and ability to work the controls quickly.

It is a keyboard instrument, but it's quite different, even to make a joyful noise sometimes from the beast if one hasn't played it in a while.  Most people probably couldn't even figure out how to turn the machine on without fiddling around for ten minutes.

However, it only has two manuals, and a 25-note pedal board (they are proper pedals, so you can go heel-toe), and just the one expression/"swell" pedal...so, I wouldn't compare it to playing Messiaen or Liszt on a big pipe organ.

Although Bach translates very well to the Hammond organ, played with fairly plain registration settings and simple bass tones on the pedals.  Just stuff from the WTC, or the Ars fuga, or whatever can sound pretty good.

Outlive: "to live beyond or longer than"

By definition he will live longer than you, so you need to learn the definition more flexible than you are currently demonstrating, don't worry with practice you can do it!

In the domain of linguistic theory, particularly when analyzed through the intricate lens of transformational-generative grammar as postulated by Chomsky, the verb "outlive" typically operates as a transitive predicate. It inherently presupposes a syntagmatic relationship wherein the subject is temporally protracted beyond the existential terminus of the object. This interpretation is encoded within a syntactic paradigm that constrains the verb's argument structure, anchoring it within the temporal finality associated with human mortality.

However, when examined through the prism of generative semantics, which accommodates the inherent plasticity and semantic malleability of lexical items, the term "outlive" may be subjected to diachronic and synchronic shifts that engender a reanalysis of its conventional semantic parameters. Such shifts may facilitate a metaphorical recategorization wherein "outlive" transcends its customary denotative constraints, thereby encompassing not merely the sequential juxtaposition of life and death but also the comparative analysis of life spans in terms of durational magnitude.

Within this reconceptualized framework, the verb "outlive" could be semantically recalibrated to denote a non-linear temporal extension. This recalibration allows the term to imply that, although my granddad's life concludes prior to yours, his extended temporal existence—manifested in a lifespan of 105 years—figuratively "outlives" your potentially shorter lifespan, thereby conferring upon it a metaphorical persistence. This extension not only redefines the temporal semantics of "outlive" but also amplifies its existential and ontological resonance, suggesting that the longevity of his life exerts a temporal dominance that metaphorically supersedes the chronological confines of your own existence.

Such an interpretative maneuver aligns with the generative capacity of human language to synthesize novel expressions and reconfigure established syntactic and semantic structures. It underscores the fluidity with which linguistic elements can be manipulated to convey abstract concepts, necessitating a higher degree of interpretative acumen to fully apprehend the nuanced and multifaceted implications embedded within this metaphorical usage.

Massive crushing defeat x 400000

That wasn't a crushing win - that was just embarrassing on your part. You tried to warp the facts to fit your narrative without properly reading what I wrote.
The weight is so heavy and crushing you, don't worry you should be used to losing, but losing in such a crushing manner and having it pointed out to you is very triggering I know. Crushed.

Again, I never said I'd live to 110. Clearly the inability to comprehend lies with you. Also... he might not live to 105+... again, he could die tomorrow, or before his 106th birthday.
You could die tomorrow too, he hasn't died many more tomorrows than yourself, your point is feeble, he still will outlive you easily.

Glad I could give you a laugh.

Also, autocorrect keeps changing Humore to Humoreske. Well, it is my favorite Schumann piece after all. Hey, the Schumann hate on this forum has been a bit quiet recently, I wonder why...

We only got the school yard humour when you started posting here again.
OK Mr Mature, go hide behind your mums skirt.

You know what... I'm getting bored of this inane crap. I'm going to take a page out of LatG and just post the same thing every time.
Lol so mature, you should start a school of maturity where you teach people to be as mature as you.

You're not going to keep this up for more than two pages, unless you stop posting on this thread altogether.
Plus, it'll look really weird when you post this on a non-LPW thread that you're interested in...

Because you keep invalidating your posts by copy/pasting, we technically don't even need to post again to make you lose. I'll do that in the future. ;D

Sometimes, you may need to provide comfort. If your child is tired or hungry, it's time for a nap or a snack. Other times, its best to ignore an outburst or distract your child with a new activity.

Your copy-paste is causing you to auto lose thus wasting your time on here. But keep going, you will have to stop eventually once your tantrum subsides.

What to do with a difficult child?

Do what feels right. What you do has to be right for your child, yourself and the family. ...
Do not give up. Once you've decided to do something, continue to do it. ...
Be consistent. ...
Try not to overreact. ...
Talk to your child. ...
Be positive about the good things. ...
Offer rewards. ...
Avoid smacking.

I'm McLovin this thread right now.

My name is Nellie, and I take pride in helping protect the children of my community through active leadership roles in my local church and in the Boy Scouts of America.  Bad word make me sad.

Greetings J_Tour... I hope you'll understand that the repeated pictures I post are not directed to you.

Although I wish you a great day, I do not in any way intend to give you the finger. Love the Groundhog day gif, and glad you made an appearance on this thread.
Curious as to why p_p is fine with j_tour but not me and lost...
Is it because p_p knows that he stands a better chance than j_tour, but also knows he won't fare as well as me and lost?
Or is it because of something else...

He's right. P_p, you literally can't win by copying a link from somewhere else.

Oh, he's dead. RIP.
