I do believe this accurately displays the two options.

Not really... there is also the alternative as treating the cotton candy like a suppository.

Seemingly there are people who put many things up their jexxie... problem is retrieving them afterwards.

Also... glad you liked my poem Ravelfan07.   🙂

Approaching 17,000 posts pretty quickly...

Which means that there are now more posts on here than thalbergmad has made in the forum's history. :o

Oh, and p_p: remember how you claimed that Second to last post wins would be dead 2 months later...

You mean in which you've posted 25 times in the last 45 replies, and most people post twice in a row to try and boost the reply numbers? No offence, but if you took out the duplicate replies (like yourself posting 4 times in a *** row)... it would be practically dead.

There's only essentially 3 people keeping that thread alive now, but you all duplicate post like crazy...

Maybe that thread ain't dead... but god-damn it's definitely on life-support and circling the gurgler.

I agree, no points awarded for p_p's rude and disrespectful haiku.  It was vain and ignorant.

Now do a ghazal!  Those are great.

How is it that you've managed to survive life so far without a funny bone... or a sense of humour???

Must be boring. At least ravelfan07 has a sense of humour. Sounds like he would make a good drinking buddy - if only we lived in the same city.

You J_Tour... chances are we'd go out, attempt to have a beer and you'd start on how life isn't worth living.

Boring...

Hello,

If you don't mind, I'd love to share my version of Schumann's "Von Fremden Ländern und Menschen on here":

Would really appreciate some advice on how to improve my technique / playing of this little piece :)

Thank you & have a good day!

That film belongs to a different era.

We find that it is so problematic that any attempts to glean humor from that picture are immediately suspect, and should be reviewed carefully by a diverse committee representing the community standards of inclusion, equity, and diversity.

IOW, silence, you fool!
;D

Hello,

If you don't mind, I'd love to share my version of Schumann's "Von Fremden Ländern und Menschen on here"

Very nice.  Excellent tone, coherent rhythmic scheme (steady, but flexible), and the phrasing is, IMHO, just as it should be.

Inefficiencies in technique...I don't know if those are deliberate for this piece, but, as you might know, the wrist flexion of the RH cannot accomodate any repertoire of greater speed, nor even volume, really.  But it's not a concern here.

Beautifully played!  And thank you!  I haven't read through the *Kinderszenen* in at least a few years.  Bravo!

I fear you have posted to what may be the worst thread to post to, for serious inquiries.

This is a long-time ongoing game thread where pianists (I would hope!) trade mild quips.

But I hope you find the student's corner of this forum, or another subforum here, where you'll find much more feedback. :)

I think you might...that's pretty subtle.

OK, pray the rosary beads while committing the marital act once per bead...what'll that take you, like ten minutes, quickdraw?   ;D

Jim Carrey is a LEGEND... and yes it may be a different era, but it's not as old as some of the movies you reference.

Plus, comedy is timeless.

Well, you could just do one...that's, what...six beads, first decade, ten beads.....ten more....ten more....

Never mind.

Or you could admit religion seems like it's being phased more and more out of fashion and less people are following it... and not do the rosary beads at all.

Save yourself a lot of time and hassle. Just because J_Tour says you should do it, doesn't mean you HAVE to do it.

Although approximately 85% of the world's population identifies with a religion  ::) And according to projections the percentage of the global population that adheres to a religion is expected to remain high by 2050, with about 84% of people worldwide being affiliated with a religious group.... yeah "phased *out* more and more"? lol

Don't worry - the religions themselves will distance their members from their church over time. I guarantee that number is going to drop SIGNIFICANTLY in the next 25 years.

There are a lot of religions where you are vilified if you speak against your religion, so there's a few of them that you aren't given the freedom of choice.

It depends on how many fascists come to power and make people more loyal to them than religions.
One of them could even come to power in under 6 months.

Plenty of the current ones are old though, so the overall proportion might decrease in the near future.

I admit that I had to look up what countries were having elections in September of this year and then search for the party names to find ANY "fascist" candidate for a head-of-state election that month, and only found one. With that said...

Why are you concerned about a populist party coming to power in Austria?!?!?! ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

I'll have you know there's an outstanding scene where Divine is raped with a rosary by Mink Stole in the classic John Waters film Multiple Maniacs.

Therefore, religion is an irreplaceable part of Western culture as represented in the arts.

100% rating at Rotten Tomatillos?  That's what shocks you?

Restored by the folks at Criterion.  It's a classic.

I use Courier because I like monospaced fonts, typewriters, and it annoys the sheet out of p_p.

No, it's the fact that it's Not Rated.
For movies from that time, NR is just as bad, if not worse, than a modern-day NC-17.

Also, it's generally referred to as Rotten Tomatoes.

No, it's the fact that it's Not Rated.

It wasn't rated because it had no distributor.  It was made by John Waters and his friends in Balmore on a 16mm camera.  Any place it was shown, it was using the one print Waters had at places he rented out.

I mean, I understand gasplamey's concern. IIRC films usually get a "Not Rated" rating when the publisher doesn't like the rating given and doesn't want to change anything about the film, so they just leave it unrated. This most commonly happens with films that would get an R or an NC-17. I stay the f*** away from any film rated R or higher for anything other than language. (And even then, the only R movies that I've actually liked were comedies rated that way for language.)

Well, keep in mind, the original X rating in the US was applied to more or less benign classics, such as Midnight Cowboy because of, I suppose the "shocking" open homosexuality.

It was until maybe the mid 1970s that the rating became more associated with pornographic endeavors.

In the UK all bets are off, though.  Tremendous prudes, to this day, when it comes to film ratings.

But people like John Waters and others, like maybe early Cassavetes or very early Scorsese or [very] early Lynch were so far out of the system that they probably didn't want to spend the fees to have the MPAA rate their movies, because they weren't going to be seen by Jenkem and Mary Jane Rottenpamperlin down on Maple St. anyway.  Nobody knew who or what they were except for a very few.  The only people who would have seen these would have probably thrown sh*t at the screen if they saw some super-serious rating appear before hand, and maybe set something on fire for fun.

Old English for laugh... snigger, chortle, chuckle.

It's usually used in old comic books.
