They aren't too big on technological innovation in Middle Earth.  How much time passes for all those stories?  Over the whole epic storyline... thousands of years I think.  For The Hobbit and LOR, a hundred years or so?  Always the same Medieval level of things.

Isn't the Ring itself a technological innovation. You could see how they might be nervous about more of it.

I remember this idea from somewhere else.... What was interesting technology -- Those plantirs, however it's spelled.  The communication/crystal ball things.  Communication over any distance.

Now it's all making some sense.....  Finally.  I see what happens now.  This black hole messes with time somehow, or maybe dimensions, resulting in this situation.... Someone I'm here in the present but my future self is in the future but seeing that as his present....   (And apparently in a mythical land called Austria-Land...)


I wonder why I didn't just pick Bob2....  That sounds more like something I'd do.  Why did I pick jmenz as a new username?  And what happened to Bob?  Why didn't I keep using that?  I guess with the time issue going on "Bob" the profile would still exist.  I'm using that now.  Unless the account expired. 

And now that I've become aware of the black hole situation... Why do I still do it?  Maybe I don't.  Maybe I do nothing and it still happens.  Or maybe something else causes the effect of having a future self.
