Thank you littletune!  Yes, it went VERY well.  It's just now I'm pretty much layed up at home for a month or two and then 3 or 4 months of crutches.  After that I'm hoping I can throw them away forever.  YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!  There's pain but I have my faithful Oxycontins for that.   ;D
That's cool Birba! I'm really glad it went very well!!!!!  8)  :)  :P

Yes, congrats.

Paperwork is on my mind.  Staying ahead, or trying to, but having other people's deadlines push all my staying ahead back behind the deadlines. ::)  So much for that.

I am slightly worried.

I am listening to a piece of music composed in 1951 and I love it.

So why are you worried about loving a work composed in the year in which both Schönberg and Medtner happened to die? And - far more importantly - what work is this?

I'm really glad you like it. I'm a bit more of sit in the sun on a terrace type. If it wasn't so cold I like the way snow covers up all the defects in the urban landscape, especially all the old rusting bicycles in Amsterdam!

On my mind? Well... I have to practice. Piano. Piano is on my mind. It is quite heavy.

God I hate these rhythms.

Hehe yes I see now.

Ooh! Rachmaninoff died 1943... it's 2010...Three more years! only three more years and I can get all his preludes for free! 70 years in 2013.

Teacher? I live less than twenty minutes away from supposedly the best pianist in TN. He taught me for six weeks and my piano playing interest went from 5 hours a day to less than 5 minutes. I do need a teacher.... But not someone who cannot teach me. I went to the UM and the head of music said they were scared to take me on. my potential they said... It was fun but... I am outcasted because of that.

TN? Perhaps you might ask Furtwängler https://www.pianostreet.com/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=16610 here on the board, he might recommend you somebody or take the challenge himself? :)

For the record, I have the ability to read, sight read, and play sheet music. I have an enhanced sense of dynamics. I have the ability to use correct fingering. I know my chords and scales, I have a heightened sense of appreciation for the difficulty of musical pieces. I am a pianist. I don't have to have a teacher to be. (If I had an example of an amazing composer without a teacher, I would give one.)

Thal

I was in no way bragging. I was stating reasons (and excuses) that I do not need a teacher. I am capable of playing whatever I want without the help of a teacher. I also do not need someone coming in and totally starting a flame war. It did not have to become something to (inappropriately) fight about. I only brag as much as the next guy who says he is having trouble with a probably considerably difficult piece.

Furthermore, anatomical body parts are hardly something to get on about.

The problem everyone is missing about music teachers is that they are not you with same goals. In other words, if you are preparing programs on short notice you should have a teacher who is doing just that. Not someone who hasn't performed in public in years.

There is always something you can learn from every teacher. The bottom line is that I want to see my teacher play the piece I'm interested in learning.
