I'm kind of shocked and surprised back into reality about the U.S.  "Greatest country on Earth" etc. etc. etc.  And the cliche of putting a man on the moon.

... But we can't plug an oil leak?

Actually the moon is closer then that leak in terms of getting men to the leak site.

Men are experts at making leaks, not stopping them.  :P

I was wondering too.  I bet that's a recording of the game.  That would start getting too strange if someone learned that stuff well enough to improvise it along with the motions of a live game.

Don't jump out of the frying pan into the fire. Every nationality has its share of idiots and abusive people.

By the way, congratulations on getting good marks on those exams.

I remember how much I looked forward to vacation when I was in school and spending endless hours floating out beyond the break line on inner tubes with my friends.

Is break line something in water? I've looked on google but couldn't find exactly what that was.... but I've found what inner tubes are  :) You will teach me a lot of new words!  :) cool!  8) I haven't been swimming for a long time now!! The break line is where the rolling sea starts to become a wave. Hanging out there was great because we weren't tossed about by the waves.

These days it is considered safe to build housing further than 200 meters from the break line. There is quite a fuss going on now in Spain about old houses built within that 200 meter safety zone about whether they should be removed.

Those inner tubes we used were left overs with several patches. Today I see similar flotation devices for sale in beach shops but I don't know what they are called. Also I don't see ones big enough to float a big 17 year old.

Enjoy the summer!

I'm wondering why synthex deleted all their (almost all) posts.  I didn't see anything odd.  That's a lot of work too to delete posts but there were only about 70 of them.  Now I'm wondering what that person wrote.

Cool idea.  Have the instrument adjust to you.

But for $700.... I don't know... I might adjust a stand myself for $700.  :)

Get that... Then a bench that automatically adjusts.... which is amusing to think out a person squating there while a bench adjusted to them.   :P

*Bob damns himself for not being rich.*  If I was rich, I could be really, really lazy and an instrument, stand, and bench that adjust for me.   ::)

I just read my first post on Pianostreet. It was really funny to read that :) because then I was sure I won't be able to have any piano lessons and I sure didn't think I could ever have a real piano!!!  :o And now I do and I've had piano lessons and exams and I love to play even a million times more then I did then! :) And also then I wrote that I had piano lessons  :D I guess I didn't even know what that was exactly.... :) I mean I did have a teacher in school that was helping me to learn to play some pieces on a keyboard, but that wasn't anything like having real piano lessons this year! :) I think it's so funny that so much has changed and it's not even a year since then :) I'm really really happy about that!!  :)  :)  And I'm also so happy I have found Pianostreet!!!  :)  :)  :)  8)

But I'm not so happy about my best friend  :( She's coming now and she will sleep over and she'll be here tomorrow and then.....  :(

Oh well at least I have my piano!!!  :) And Pianostreet too!  8)  :P

And yesterday I discovered you can make your own rainbow!!  :)  :P you don't have to wait for the rain! you can make it with a water hose! you have to turn it like so that it's sprinkling a lot of little water drops and then if the sun shines on that you have a rainbow!!!  :) I think that's sooo cool!  8)  8)

I can see by the posts or lack thereof that the weather is very good in Europe.

Littletune; the trampoline is a great source of video clips for "America's Funniest Home Videos." You should see what happens to people flying through the air..

BTW, Thal how was that sojourn for the concert in A'dam?

Oh, it finished OK, albeit not until the wee sma' orrs of the day following that on which it started (although it would and should have finished on the same day had its commencement time been more sensibly scheduled). I have indeed heard it and, although the relatively small three manual instrument on which Kevin Bowyer played the monstrously demanding work in question presented quite a series of challenges of its own, no least short compass manuals and pedals, no pistons / sequencers / etc., a flat pedalboard and a very heavy action, it evidently went down so well that Mr Bowyer was invited on the spot to give the Dutch première of Sorabji's Third Organ Symphony in the Holland Festival in 2013 shortly after the work's world première in Glasgow. On balance, you'd have been better off attending the Glasgow performance, where the instrument was largely up to the task, but whether that city would have been capable of providing you with other entertainments to suit you on a Sunday may of course have been debatable...

It would have had to be the finishing rather than starting time that counted; the Glasgow performance began just after 1.00 p.m. and ended just after 11.30 p.m., whereas the Amsterdam one started at around 2.30 p.m. and concluded just after 1.30 p.m.

The possible availability or otherwise of supplementary entertainment notwithstanding, it's a pity that you missed both performances.

Sorry - I thought that it had commenced at what I assumed to have been the advertised time of 2.30 p.m. and my reference to its ending at 1.30 p.m. was a typo for 1.30 a.m.! That said, as the perforamance really did end at 0.30 a.m., did he take rather shorter intervals than the c.35 minutes and c.55 minutes that he took in Glasgow 12 days previously?
