Can't believe Robin Williams killed himself and had Parkinsons.  Strange times.

And I wonder where the predictions thread went.  It's almost September.

What would it feel like it, the experience, if you had your intelligence increased?  Easier?  More difficult?  It's always portrayed the same way in movies, but that really doesn't count for much.  It would depend on what "intelligence" is, but... if you actually boosted something related to the general idea of intelligence, say working memory, what would that actually feel like?

Hmmm....Having a better working memory certainly would make many tasks easier/possible to handle. That would mean less moments with the frustration of running out of it and having to use some aid like pen and paper or a computer to complete the task. So when they invent a chip to install to my brain to increase it I think I'd have one.

On the other hand, having had limited working memory may correlate with the increased ability to both find information very quickly and concentrate less on smaller details and be able to see the relevant and handle the bigger picture. In my experience memory skills as such don't seem to play a very important part in general intelligence.

I think being more intelligent would only make life more difficult if one lacks the social or emotional part of it. Because when one has those one also understands that it is best to not show all you've got in every situation...you learn to adjust better to those with less :)

You really don't need to have THAT much intelligence for that to be a problem   :(

Interesting.  Relevant to piano or anything, esp with the motor memory vs. storing info part.

I thought that's where "you" are in the brain, but I guess not.

If you were a radish capable of having a lobotomy, even afterwards you'd still be the most compos mentis radish ever.
