What about people who have cell phones but never turn them on or take them with them anywhere?  :-\

Or people like me who have cell phone but don't bother to answer when it rings and keep it so low that it mostly isn't even heard?

Nothing can be so urgent it cannot be handled by e-mail  >:(

...
...
...

I shed a tear tonight.  Someone posted a video on Facebook...  Of a man having the most traumatizing experience of his life.  I wouldn't wish this upon anybody.  Even people who don't have cell phones.  Oh no no no...  This is probably the worst thing a human being could experience.  Absolutely tragic.

It was a highschool basketball game.  Or maybe AAU I don't know.  And this guy...  Got dunked on.

Now it's a big deal getting dunked on, but not THAT big of a deal usually.  It happens to everyone.  I mean even I got dunked on before.  And yes, I felt defeated...  Defenseless...  Hopeless...  All the shine in my life was taken away immediately.  BUT...  Despite the fact that this was a difficult time in my life, I had people...  Friends (teammates and coach) to pull me out of the darkness.  It did take some time, and it wasn't an easy battle, but I overcame this obstacle.

BUT...

This dunk was no ordinary dunk. OOOOOOH NOOO this was no ordinary dunk.  This was-...  Sorry.   I need to take a moment.  *I take a knee and begin taking big slow breaths*

...
...
...

This was no ordinary dunk.  This dunk was something the likes of which NOBODY has ever seen before.  It was a life changing experience.  This man freaking POSTERIZED that poor defender!!!  It was absolutely horrendous!!!  Worse than the Kevin Ware injury!!!  This dunk was sooooo bad they had to STOP THE GAME!!!  And I'm not exaggerating they actually did have to STOP THE GAME.  Everyone got off their benches and out the bleachers and ran on to the court, dude it was ridiculous.  Everyone freaking lost their minds!  Even the defenders teammates weren't there to comfort him!  Now when your teammates aren't there for you...  You know this is serious.

But damn...  Now usually the worst way to get dunked on is to get the other persons nuts in your face.  But this dunk was so massive that it didn't matter that he didn't get nuts in his face.

...
...
...

That poor defender lost his soul.  Like actually though he literally lost his soul.  That man dunked the soul out of him.  There's a brief moment when you get to see the defenders face after the fact.  And once you see his face...  You can tell.  Man...  I'm starting to cry again.  I feel soo bad for that poor defender.  He had the face of a defeated man.  A man with no hope or dreams.  A man with no happiness in his life.  A man with no love or passion.  A man with no soul.  Everything that man had was taken away from him.  And he can't get it back.  This was just too much.  He's going to have to hang his jersey after that.  Maybe drop out of highschool.  He can't face his teammates or everyone at his school anymore.  That dunk probably sterilized him so he can't have kids.  But that's okay because he can't get a girlfriend, nobody wants to date a man with no soul.  This mans life was ruined in an instant!  He's gonna have to see a therapist for the rest of his life now.  He may not be able to talk for several weeks.  I feel soo sorry for him, this man is scarred forever.  This man is gonna be a couch potato for the rest of his life.  He'll be too afraid to sleep because he'll have nightmares replaying this tragedy over and over again.

Damn...  He lost his soul man!  Why did this have to happen?!  *crying*

My condolences go to him and his family.  I might donate some money.

The reason why I hate people with no phones is because when you're supposed to meet up somewhere, you have no idea where the heck they are!!!

Like a friend of mine was supposed to pick up four of us today and he came 45 minutes late so one of them ended up walking home in -52 windchill degree weather.

If you're gonna come late, then why don't you call to tell us?

Oh you don't have a phone?

THEN GET A PHONE YOU IDIOT!!!  You can afford a car but not a phone?!  Buy a freaking phone!!!! >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

There was a time before cell phones when people at least TRIED to be on time and keep their arrangements...now it's like: "Sorry, I'm a little late, be there in a minute" (and their minute is quite a bit longer than mine) or "I know I promised to be there like now, but could we do this another day, something came up".

I'm on my way

Reality:  I'll sleep for 5 more minutes then leave

I'm almost there

Reality:  just got out the shower

I'm around the corner

Reality:  eating breakfast

Can you still actually buy a pager anymore?

I was thinking of that the other day.  I remember people being on time more in the past.  It seems like the phone is an excuse to be late.  "I'm on my way."  So what?  You're still late.

I didn't know museums lent out their exhibits so freely.  :o

I always turn my phone off if I'm going to meet someone. Then they have to at least try to be on time. I get so sick of people thinking a phone call is a substitute for punctuality. Pet peeve No. 5643.

At one time those were kings of the hill.

I don't think you're old enough to remember but I traveled with a colleague around Scandinavia with a phone that had colored buttons with the initials of the various countries. When we were on a ship we would go the top deck out in the cold and push buttons until we got a signal. If the best signal was DK and we wanted call the office in Stockholm we would need to use DK codes as if we were in Copenhagen. Plus there was an antenna we could extend...

Your way of posting pictures hasn't changed, but at least you finally stuck to one personality.

I haven't seen ajspiano in a while.

Good to see you're back to normal.  No actually, when I first joined your personality was already split.  So it's nice to finally see you normal for the first time.

Maybe that was what they were called. They were very expensive and really only companies could afford them.

In his car he had both a Swedish phone and one for DK. We used those while we charged the battery on the push button.

Yes, they were expensive, but at some point people did buy them for private use also. Then soon after they started getting obsolete...
In one sense they were definitely better than the GSM-phones we have now...they covered well almost the entire country even remote areas in the North.

Earlier, I was eating my dessert for the evening, a piece of apple pie from a store bought pie. I began to think about the fact that, as good intentions as the peoples of the stores and bakeries might have, they will always make an inferior product to a homemade pie. It's not as fresh, they're mass produced, and the ingredients are cheaper.

This lead me to ponder human inefficacy as a whole, how we tend to fail even if our heart is in the right place, due to simple uncontrollable circumstance. The thought saddened and scared me, that the world was ruled by the endless gaping maw of inevitable human failure, a constant reminder ever lingering about how truly inadequate we are in this world.

All I did was eat a pie, and I was sent through the roaring winds of a philosophical storm. Incredible, simply incredible. Unfortunately, such could not be said about the pie: it was a bit ghastly.

It's good enough from being mass produced that people are willing to buy it even though it's probably lower quality.  Enough of a demand to make it worthwhile to produce.

No idea what he was saying but he sounded happy.

What a great idea! I always have a problem with people walking so slow...I only walk when I have to get somewhere and I like to get there as soon as possible :)

True. Quite sad, though, how people are willing to settle for less for the sake of convenience.
