Suicidal thoughts, not able to drink, and people aren't willing to part with my nads. Yippee.

Strange thing I've noticed.  Some music kind of appeals to be due to the rhythmic precision.

My sister, who pretty much exclusively listens to pop music, says she prefers Prokofiev over Chopin. I did not see that coming.

HOHOHO!  On my way home last night, in the neighborhood, I saw a large pine tree on a front yard with Christmas lights on!  I had to laugh...say, did Halloween just passed on by?   ::)

That's a lot of chickens.  It's going to take some time, don't you think?  Let's concentrate on one type at time here.  Can't save them all all at once.  That would be madness.

Maybe Mozart didn't have to ask how to write a Symphony, but he didn't have to ask for a music education, either.

I wonder...

If you give someone a reward for doing something, when the reward is removed, they tend to stop doing it.  It's the negative aspect of a reward system. If they do that action on their own though... If you give them a reward for that same behavior, and then remove the reward.... Would they continue the behavior on their own or would the reward system effect encourage them to stop the behavior once the reward is gone?  If you want to experiment and really stop the behavior, would the reward system have to be in place from the beginning?

The darkness at the end is a nice touch.  Makes it like a movie.

How did you get the youtube URL?  I tried twice.  Yesterday I spent 10-15 fiddling with it, trying to find the right form of the URL to work.  How did you get it?

Ta mère est une pute.

I'm no expert on the culture where you live Bob, but around here such a remark would be considered quite rude. In France you could get a fist in the face for saying such things. In Spain it would be written on the walls as derogatory graffiti against someone.

But I  guess in Sweden you can say such things and get a laugh...

It looks like you are the only one who speaks French. I'm quite surprised. I thought there would be more French pianists who could speak some English.

Those French quotes maybe falling on deaf ears. I'm not familiar with any of them except the rude one. Most of my French was learned on streets of Paris is not literary.

Not those. That's Tengwar.

The Dwarves used a runic alphabet, based on the Cirth derived Certhas Daeron and Angerthas Daeron.

I thought it was Sindarin. Something like that.  The first one is supposed to be in the language. The bottom one, second one, is just translating English into one of the Elvish languages, ie incorrect.

Tengwar is a script - an alphabet if you prefer - used for Elvish (primarily) languages. Sindarin is an Elvish language, so the top one may well be that (I don't claim to speak any to confirm).

The second one is a transliteration of english into tengwar, and is no more reprehensible than our transliteration of may, say, Russian composer's names from Cyrillic.

If it was a really, really overcast day.... and you were a vampire... could you go outside during the day?  Just plain overcast can still give you a sunburn, so that must be out.  But is there a point where it would be safe to go out?

I may as well be a vampire. I abhor sunlight, drink my own blood, don't really like garlic, probably would die with a wooden stake to the heart or a silver bullet to the head, and bite as a primary form of attack.

I'd probably say yes.

I'm sick of hearing about Kennedy.  Fifty years ago fine.  I've heard the stories and theories my whole life.  The only new thing I heard was that Kennedy wore a back brace that day that made him sit upright.

There's really nothing new.  It even looks like the old people reporting and reminiscing about the event are enjoying it.

Why are there so many videos of people on Youtube sight reading something badly? If you're going to video yourself playing a piece at least learn the bloody thing.
Currently learning:

Satie Je Te Veux            Rach C#m
Poulenc Bal Fantome       Chopin 28/20

The JFK "thing" Camelot, etc., were a big influence on those people, even today. His speeches influence many aspects of government and foreign policy. After JFK we went to war but never in it to win it. Think about all the money and blood we have spent and what difference have we made?

A lot on my mind today....

I ran into someone this week who lost, actually lost, about a half million dollars in the stock market.  Mentioned like it was the weather, like it was raining.  It was a past event but still... I can't imagine that.

Thing can, and will probably at some point, be worse.
You can always be more tired.
You can always be more stressed.

I'm just noticing as the years go by, "normal" working is at a more fatigued level.  Stress is higher.  Where I would have taken a break in the past, now it's more of "this will get done, this must get done" and the toll is taken on the body, mind, and emotions.

Which makes me wonder what's coming up next.  Or I just answered my concern....

... which also means it's better to just schedule things to get them done.

Random thoughts...

I see Brahms has joined the forum.  I wonder what it would look like if somehow most of the major composers were on a forum.  Would they argue a lot?  What would they discuss?  Would they even discuss?  Or would they be set in their ways and not acknowledge others?

They say if time travel were possible, why weren't/aren't we visited?  Maybe we're just in a less interesting, stable pocket of time. Not much of interest, not a real reason to visit... so why bother?

I found it a little insulted that a commercial said 'all my wishes' could come true... just someone buying me gifts from that place.  I heard the commercial and thought, "Not my wishes.  Your shtuff won't make those come true..."
