Sucks Cox

That was the implication.  Correct.

I wouldn't know, because I now have a cat.  And therefore less energy for such frivolities as to deciding which British artist sucks the most.

It is so choice.  If one has the means, I highly recommend picking one of those up.

Yeah, but he kind of sucks, doesn't he?

Brian Cox (the actor) is a great man who has had decades of prestige and fame due to his great roles. What do you have against him?
Brian Cox (the physicist) is a man who seems to enjoy explaining the universe to people in a calm and soothing voice.

What did any of them do to you??? Did they touch you in their bathing suit area or something???

That must be some large bathing suits if we both can fit in there for them to touch us there.

Oh, not even a quote but a video clip to some old cartoon.

I always liked those Tom and Jerry fellows, always getting up to those hijinx what with trying to kill each other and such and playing them pianos.

Somebody do a new cartoon of that retard who does those xkcd things but make it not retarded, please.

I thought both John Higgins and Ronnie O'Sullivan were retired from snooker until a few days ago.

Mix of both elements, one supposes.

Couple of old geezers who are 0x32, which is freaking *ancient* in snooker years, battling it out?  Unheard of, really.

OK, credit where is due.  That had me laughing out loud.  Even though is Jew comedian, which race I don't always find much of merriment about, plus they not making many more good best of classics in music, it was a very good spoof.

You get a gold star and a good fistbump or skullhead or whatever they say for that clip.

Also, does anyone know where I can buy the sheet music for this?  It's really almost as good as a Beethoven, and the legato octaves in LH are really rocking my world.

And thanks again...even though I *knew* what was coming....

Yes, I still spit beer onto my notebook computer and a lot of other places.

Bastard.

Tom had better legato octave arpeggios.

Not really, dingus magee.

ImgBB licks taint and turned out to dislike me overnight.

But I can still play legato octave arpeggios!  Whatever that's supposed to mean.

Technically, they're split octaves, legato and they are quite arpeggiated in their notes...

I'd say that practically qualifies.

OK.  Split/staggered octaves, and parts of them one could call parts of an arpeggio.

At least that makes some sense.

Now what's the problem with them?

Fool!

/* ETA, that is a pretty butch little piano break there.  I would have guessed someone like Jools Holland dropped in for that little bit, but, no.  Apparently a member of the band, Richard Coles, did that.

Yeah, I guess they're octaves, although staggered, and not legato, and I suppose one could call them arpeggiated forms of a dom7 chord.  So, staccato staggered arpeggiated octaves of a form that could never be the tonic of a tune.  Done very well in a little pastiche of common practice in improvised music of certain epoch.

What part of legato octave arpeggios do you not be understanding, fool!

Good video, anyway.  Sort of blast from the past, and that is a nice little piano break in there.

No, never heard that before, seriously, but it's a nice bit of memorabilia and it is a nice bit of production on the music front.*/

Actually, I think the first lot of octaves are played with separate hands - single notes in each, so they are technically smooth. It's only when he then plays single notes in the LH, and double notes in the RH that they do get a little more staccato... but I'd like to see you show off a better example.

Plus - I do love the little piano improv bit after the octaves finish. You can tell that guy just loves playing those 8 bars of chunky chords.

Yeah, probably is.

It could be.

I personally think it's easier to do it with one hand....but at that tempo, and it would have to be the LH.  I can't play staggered octaves with the RH, nor even shared between the hands, because that's never (or extremely rarely, I should say) come up in music I was playing or would play.   I'd have to practice that, whereas I already know the LH pattern.

Quote

No, I couldn't give a better example.  I could play it if I shedded it a bit for a few days, or maybe a long afternoon, but probably end up sounding about the same as the record.

Any of the staggered double octaves that are a feature of NOLA piano would work, but they tend to be limited to say, moving from the tonic to the subdominant or the dominant chord.

It can be frustrating to me to hear solutions to technical problems that are elided in ways that some kid off the street can play using an easier solution.

Sounds elitist and a bit mad, but it's true.  No, I would not have considered dividing up the octaves between both hands....I'd have considered rather "Well, that's kind of a PITA to do it that way, so think of something else to play there."  Kind of a nice example of where a different perspective can enlarge one's technical ability.

I still think it's a stunt, but it's a good one, and it works for the tune.

I'm going on a limb and suggest that Leszek is either a furry, an otherkin, a creator of conlangs, a writer of Twilight fan-fiction, or morbidly obese.

Does that about cover it?

Well, pictures of nude men who are in an aroused state, to be precise

And, no, that's not "what I do."  Not regularly, anyway.

Just this one time I did, to satisfy this message board.

I found it unpleasant and there may be some internal bleeding.

Some women have very powerful legs which can be weaponized, it seems.

I'd strongly advise against polling such a person as Cynthia Rothrock, for example.  No one wins.

This is Australia. Half the time it's too hot to go outside, so a shave would be great and keep the cat cool.
The other half it's too bloody cold for the Australians, so shaving a cat would keep it inside where it won't kill the native wildlife.

That seems like a win-win.

Want one?  Tisas 1911 Tank Commander, haven't even taken the tags off the instrument yet.  It's chambered in 9mm when I intended it to be in 45ACP.

Seriously, I'm trying to sell it for $400 USD, if anyone who is allowed to own firearms wants it and will submit to the legal requirements of a thorough background check.....performed by me....and several pairs of nitrile gloves.

Self-taught, mostly.  I need a thousand more hours of practice before I can receive my certification.

I've spent plenty of time in what we call "simulation," which is essentially a puppet or set of puppets, though.

We borrowed that term from aviation, where it's usually a cockpit simulation with haptic feedback.

I like both puppets equally.

Why are you insisting that I have to drown one of them?

OK, Bert's kind of a dick, but Ernie just has such a punchable face.

Thank you.  I've decided to chop Ernie's stubby little non-piano-playing fat fingers off at the lifeboat, leaving him to the trust of Neptune and the briny deep.

Bert's hella annoying....but I can always count on Bert to be Bert.

Ernie was just too flibberty-jibberty.  So he had to perish.

Practiced while ignoring pain , pain grew a lot( apparently i sprained my hand (not piano related ) )  , cant hold a bottle now , i think i should avoid practicing waterfall etude for now.

That was a bit foolish.  We don't need to get into how you sprained the tendons in your hand, nor what your bottle contains.

It's times like this I always ask myself:  'What would Bert do?'

Why would you play through the pain? Any good musician knows that if there's pain - you STOP.

You might think it's character building to play through that, but it ultimately doesn't help.

Baloney sausage.  No pain, no gain!

You gotta play through that!  If it hurts, that means you're getting stronger!   ;D

Besides, maybe he or she was entertaining a lady when he damaged a tendon.  And that would have been wrong, and I disapprove.
