And again... I wasn't expecting you to care. I was merely voicing my opinion.
And im telling you, no one gives a rats lol.

It's how people start a discussion, looking at pros & cons about a subject... listening to another persons opinion on the matter and seeing if there are aspects that maybe you overlooked in your belief.
If you want to make the convo centred in on YOU, but youre not an interesting topic and no one cares about what comedy you think is good or not.

Maybe you should try it, instead of assuming you are always right about everything.    ;D
How has that trying worked for you in your relationship? Who's assuming anything, just pointing out what happens, you do always tell us why you like comedy or not, as if we care. You're also very caustic and abusive when poked at which is funny, so more of that is fun, it gives more reason to poke and win this thread. I win again.

What is a blog

Basically random peoples thoughts put into text... some were mildly okay, others were just rants about any trivial thing that came to their mind.

A lot of it was just amateur babbling.

I believe you should be asking Putin that...

Could be, but I'm not.

Who the heck has blogs any more... they went the way of the dinosaur years ago. Now it's just a whole bunch of 27 second TikTok videos.

So you're saying that it's all about vlogs nowadays with the kids.

No.  The kids are calling it a vlog now.

It's on the MTV Channel or something.

Yeah, but we don't really talk about "going down" on children so much in public here.

While we're on a thread where anything can be discussed... I came across this video that claims a particular piano player speeds up his video:

Some of his live videos convinced me that he does have the technical ability to play very well and this might just be professional jealousy from another YouTuber...

Then however, I came across this:

This seems questionable...

However, do you think Digital pianos and MIDI recordings give people the opportunity to speed up their recordings to make themselves sound better than they are, and have there been any examples of people who have been caught doing so?

Many speed it up 10 or 15% or so but you can see their movements are weirdly jerky.

Almost certainly, by desperate hacks, and probably not any that can be verified as conclusively busted.

Studio trickery has been used since recording technology existed, but evidence of fraud is not convincing except in the context of various neckbeards  engaged in some flimflammery or trading witty barbs.

However, legerdemain has always been at work in live performance.  For example, Liszt's method of concealing a fundamentally flawed technique (allegedly!), all the way down to third-rate hacks like Liberace or, in another field, Rudolf Wanderone.

And that's also assuming that raw speed is a desideratum among players.

Apparently it is among some children, but I'd question the value of that judgment.

There are quite a few areas in life and art where one does not want to be accused of being a quickdraw artist.

To me, it was when the user pulled his hands off the piano after the Chopin 16th Prelude... it just looked bizarrely sporadic.

The only thing I can counter with is that the user said a lack of motion blur in hands when moving fast, however this can be dismissed if the person accidentally records at 60fps, but then uploads the video at 30fps. Most video editors would just drop those extra frames, and thus you wouldn't see that natural camera blur.

There is definitely something satisfying about playing with a drummer or percussionist... a beautiful truth that if you're not playing in time with a good percussionist... you're not playing in time at all.

...and that helps keep choirs and other ensembles in check.

OK.

I take back some of the things I said about you.

Now you're talking some sense!

That's 100% true.

And not in just a metronomic sanity check to see if one's time is good, but being able to play with a drummer/percussionist who is able to play around with the time while still retaining the core meter of the tune.

If one loses one's place in that situation, that's entirely one's own fault.

And if one is relying on the drummer for time....well...you're going to be a few milliseconds behind, and one likely sucks in that case, and it will sound like it.  Everyone in a group is responsible for keeping perfect time.

Although a good drummer will see one's failures and telegraph the downbeats occasionally to help one's dumb arse out, even though shouldn't be necessary.

TBH, though, most drummers one encounters in the wild just plain aren't that good....meaning they can't keep time rock solid in the first place without drifting.  I pay attention to the bass players, or just play the bass myself on the keyboard/pedals.

But playing with a truly gifted, creative drummer is one of the pleasures in life....not much cause for it in legit music, but any kind of improvised music, certainly.

I work with choirs a lot and the amount of times that sometimes they drag their feet, or don't come in on their cue without a drummer is a little annoying...

HOWEVER, playing with an amateur can also be the most disruptive and annoying thing ever. Had a piece of music where I had swung quavers... and the drummer didn't even realise the piece was swung, so he was playing straight quavers against me.

Most frustrating performance ever.

Actually that could be kind of be cool....I mean, in the context of say an arrangement where everyone knew what the effect was going to be.

Think about it:  a drummer's playing straight common time, or whatever the time signature is, and you're swinging.....I wouldn't really want the drummer to be pushing the beat or doing anything but hitting downbeats on one or three, so I could play off against that.

It'd be more fun from the perspective of a musician, if they were on the same page, but, hell, if they want to be a human metronome, or a wood block or something, then....I could make that work.  If anything, it'd make me sound better.

I guess I could just cite Bartok's Sonata 2p+p sonata where there is a deliberate push-pull between different interpretations of the rhythm.

Sounds like you just had a dumb drummer, though....which I agree sucks.

Obviously, everybody's responsible for their own internal time clock, but it gets to be exhausting fighting against somebody who is off in their own little world.

Especially when it's in real time and one has to deliver a product.

I work with choirs a lot and the amount of times that sometimes they drag their feet, or don't come in on their cue without a drummer is a little annoying...

Well, IMHO that just makes the vocal arrangements and performances of well-known pop recordings, like from Ray Charles or Aretha Franklin, so much more impressive.

Such that even an amateur can tell it just over the radio or whatever people listen to these days.

If it wasn't spot-on perfect in the studio, it never got cut to record, and those background singers, or "choirs," just plain "never" got it wrong, pretty likely, as first-call, well-rehearsed musicians.

Same with regular studio musicians...nobody is stressed about getting it wrong, because primarily it's constitutionally incapable for them to get it wrong.

That's how I practice, anyway:  not just can I play it right, but can I never play it wrong, no matter how little sleep or any of those environmental conditions.

That's always the goal for me:  not just "Yay!  I played it good that time!"  But more like "*** yeah, I played it for the hundredth time right on a meth bender while also drunk as hell, and I still nailed it!"

OK, since I made a stupid double hit on submit, I may as well use it to illustrate a point:

Dig how Mike Clark on this iconic tune is playing what I would call a very "straight" pattern.

No mistake that Mike Clark is in the pocket and has perfect time and all that.

But, compared to the statement of the tune, it's very much a mutual accompaniment.

Well, in this case, maybe Mr. Clark is "swinging" a bit more than the statement of the tune itself, but it's the same effect....one or another of the group is performing more in terms of straight dupled rhythm, instead of swinging tending towards a triplet/dotted eighth-note type thing.

I find it to be a very good effect.  In this case, Herbie and the melodic instruments are playing very straight, almost to-the-grid, while Mike Clark is very sua sponte playing the form down in very much a more "swinging" fashion....so, both aspects of the rhythm (viz., straight vs. swung) are simulatneously presented.

However, it does presuppose that all musicians know where the main downbeat is...and I think Mike Clark makes that clear even just to the listener by hitting the crash cymbal judiciously.

Oh, and for the kids, this is some dude explaining the tune at the acoustic piano, assuming one is deficient in being able to hear for some reason.

I have nothing to do with this little dude's explanation, and don't necessarily agree, but meh....he doesn't seem entirely wrong, and that's the way I play this tune (which is very rarely...although I recall learning this tune off the record years ago....and I try to cover the acoustic bass part with my LH or feet at the same time, but it's not a tune that I'd choose to cover in any kind of live situation....just because the original versions [speaking of the original off the album "Thrust" with the Rhodes electric piano, and the live in Japan version done with the acoustic piano subbing in for the Rhodes off that album, I think is called "Flood"] are so iconic).

Is that how you're calling having a Scott Morrison in front of small children these days?

Not even Paul Hogan would dare.

OK, that's kind of amusing.  And I will have a Becky from the cinematic masterpiece called Birdemic

Hey, AI people!

I have to write out the bass part to this tune, in standard notation and in tab, and it sounds to me that it's a six-string bass guitar, with A=440, and the pre-chorus (I guess you could call that....I don't like the way people say things) is in F#, and the chorus of the tune is obviously in A.

I don't feel like writing it out but is this something that "AI" can do for me?  It's really obvious, but I just don't feel like doing it now, plus I got to go do stuff in like six hours and I haven't been to sleep yet today/yesterday.

If that's a masterclass... then so is the new series Starfleet Academy. I've never seen more embarrassing slop. I mean, it's practically estranged all the old school Star Trek fans.

Thanks to the 'progressive' culture... they've killed off any interest for the series of Dr Who, Star Trek & Star Wars.

Video games are going the same way as well and in some cases it's destroying lives - those game companies who were forced to put propaganda into their games because the higher ups told them to, and then when the game bombs and reviews poorly - the game company shuts down and people lose their jobs.

Spoken like a true nerd.

And not the cool kind of music nerd!  (True fact:  all musicians are huge nerds, even if they pretend otherwise, strutting around on stage and all that nonsense).

Why would you bother consuming media you despise?  There are alternatives....you know....books, music, and last I checked there are still some movies out there that apply to the more cultivated among us.

Lets change this thread to "The annoying movie critique corner with your host PP whiney face" lol.

Shame... it was rather quiet without you. So what is it you're trying to say... NO ONE is allowed to voice their opinion on something??? Most of the comments on this thread have just been thoughts/opinions and observations by all those who have commented here.

If you're going to have a piss and moan whinge every time people say something that even involves their opinion, then you need to get over it.

This entire thread is filled with peoples thoughts, bleatings, and random musings over the years. If you took that away it would be a 10th the size and just full of meme pictures and would have died a long time ago.

I consume enough only until I know whether I want to continue watching it or now... if I don't, I never watch any more of it.

Its your incessant opinions about movies, youre so autistic about it you can't help yourself.

If you're going to have a piss and moan whinge every time people say something that even involves their opinion, then you need to get over it.

It's the same sh*t from last week... you're literally just repeating yourself.

I thought it was just a monthly thing with you, but you're just now just a depressing bore.

Oh look - I win, deal with it.    ;D

Here's an interesting thought... you seem to think that every time you type something about me, I (according to you, which is an erronous source of information to be honest) supposedly stop my feet, have a hissy fit, cry in anguish and exasperation and sulk over what you said to me over a bottle of wine to help calm the pessimistic thoughts in my head.

You seem to think that I give even an iota of thought to what gibberish pours out your mouth. Your ego is so inflated that you seem to think you have some power over me...

...you do not. The second I walk away from typing this - I get on with my life and don't give you a second thought. Nor, do I even care what the heck you type. In fact, not ONCE have I ever assumed the same about you. When I walk away from typing this, I don't care if you read it... I don't care if you like or hate it... I'm merely writing this to be 'the last post wins'.

For one of these people, there are elements pointing to signs that one of us is an egomaniac...

I always believed you were just trolling... suspicion confirmed. Time to use the ignore function... let's do that.

QQ?

You couldn't get in my head with an icepick and a target painted on my forehead. I learned to tune morons like you a long time ago. It's the same repetitive crap... you claim to be superior over someone and argue like a mangy dog.

You're not annoying, you're boring.

Are you still stomping your feet and chucking a hissy fit? Lol you protest far too much so you must be. Go outside and play, fresh air can help the anger.

I dont actually think much of you at all, yet you constantly feel the need to call people whatever you wish, that shows you’re triggered lolx293883839293

You do care so much you can see how annoyed your responses are, its hilarious actually. Excellent way to win against you. Loser, I win!!

QQ is your salty tears flowing down your cheeks. And stop projecting youre the most ego fueled person here lol, you think we care about what you think is mature, excellent viewing content and etc.

I win again and convincingly!!

Oh yes and ignore me, that shows youre crying over my posts lol. I dont need you to respond to me anyway I'll just point out stuff without you responding, its fine 😀
