I am thinking about my career and options to take to make one...had an appointment with a career assistance counsellor guy and may have found something after much research. How's everybody else doing?

I wonder how William Shatner would play the piano.   Maybe he would stretch the phrase out in the wrong spot, followed by an accented note?

I think the difficulty of Chopin prelude in G major is overrated, yesterday I sight read it at about 60% speed, perfectly legato, steady rythm and evenly with no wrong notes, if I practiced it I could get it up to speed. This leads me to believe it is not very difficult.

I am still currently wasting my time. It is not my favorite piece but it is good for technique (according to my teacher) and he wants me to be able to play playful music (I currently have a streak of playing playful music awfully), and the Chopin is no different than any other of the playful music I have played.

If you cannot play that poxy little waltz properly, I would not attempt much of Dreyschock's output, although some of his smaller pieces are not tendon tearers.

Well it is not a technical issue, it is not my expression and the fact I play both hands at the same volume. This may give you an idea of how mine sounds:

I'm thinking... if the arctic icecap melts... what about where Santa Claus?  Would he move to the South Pole?  Live in a submarine?  Or actually choose a country?  But which one?  Canada?  Russia?  Greenland could work.  I have no impression of Greenland.  It's just there.  And the distortion on the map could possibly be used to Santa's advantage.

I'm still ticked about my Youtube videos running slow.  It's especially annoying when trying to watch music videos and I shouldn't have to wait from the way I understand I'm set up.

Isn't "mildly severe" something of a contradiction in terms? That said (or rather asked), I can well understand what you feel, even without being a pianist myself, although it might be worth adding that piano enny is not one of the more contructive emotions, so maybe the berst solution for you is to get more friendy with your friend to the extent that he/she can no longer resist offering you ample opportunities to practise on it!

Did pianistimo tell you that? (although, even if she did, she probably didn't also tell you that, in a context such as this one, "neighbours" should read "neighbour's" - unless, that is, she also sought to persuade you that one should not covet one's neighbours...)

Best,

Alistair

Well, it depends on what "successfully" really means.  If you are asking whether or not I will ever take her up on it, that depends entirely on my-need-to-play-that-piano being capable of trumping my constant sense of not wanting to intrude on people's space !  I have a distinct feeling though, that I will, in fact, actually try to work my way over there at some point ... perhaps even quite soon (though, "soon" for me can sometimes mean "sometime within the next 6 months to a year" ... haha).

I am not sure what model it is.  I just don't know enough about Bosendorfers to be able to know without actually asking her.  It's not a full grand, I mean, not a 9 footer.

OK and OK. The fact that it may not necessarily be a full concert grand is unlikely to make a whole lot of difference to the sheer pleasure - mental, physical and emotional - that you may well derive from the experience of practising on it when you get to do so - and I'm sorry if that makes you feel even more piano-envious!
