I have to see my math teacher...   :'(

I can think of someone else who probably has binders and binders full of women.  ::)

Today is my 15° day without smoking...I feel terrible  :'( :'( :'(

Congratulations!

It was in Roma where I quit. A penniless count, an ambassador and I stubbed out last cigarette together in a small ex-pat club, witnessed by a former half back from the University of So Cal (Los Angeles) who owned a string of restaurants and discos on the other side of the river.

One week later a city bus driver who often drove the same bus I took to work, commented on my improved fitness after I ran up to catch it on the street of the two monkeys.

That was over 30 years ago and I have never for even one second regretted the choice.

The only thing you will fight is the urge to eat everything in sight!

Keep it up!

Thank you so much for th encouragement, I badly need it!!!!
I'm resisting heroically, but the idea to get fat is freightening me, so I'm literally starving to death. Besides, Not eating is not that difficult, since as soon as I eat, even just a carrot,  I feel the urge to light a cigarette, and with wine is still worse...not to mention sex: if it's ture thant post coitum omnes anilam triste est (after coitus every animal is sad), without smoking is sadder than ever  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

coffee can help take the edge off of hunger. i use strong black coffee during intermittent fasts and hunger is rarely an issue (i.e i can easily go with a 16-24 to even 36 hour fast-though i seldom go beyond 18, rare is the super long one,).

if you really start having issues with hunger there are ways we can play with your neurotransmitters and apptetitie regulation centers and hormone balance. we can unpack that in pm if you like.  just so happens many of the protocols i use and would suggest for this are also very very conductive to leaning out/body fat loss and manipulation.

keep strong.  get some nicorette gum too. there's very good scientific evidence that nicotenic receptor stimulation can have some positive effects with regard to estrogen clearance and overall sex stroid metabolism regulation. also pharmacologically, nicotine is pretty benign. it's all the stuff that piggy backs on it when you take it in via tobacco that are problematic. as a purified substance it's a great adjunct therapy to help you quit and aslo has some interesting 'positive' side effects i'd rather not start to unpack or i'd be typing for the rest of the day...

in other words. keep strong. good luck!

:-* :-* :-*  I was sure I could count on your support, Enrique!!!!
The problem is not that I'm compensating smoking with food, but the fear that my metabolism will get slower...even if I keep chewing Nicorette gums all the day long.

Anyway I'm intensifying my workout sessions.... and (but please, don't laugh at me) whenever at home  I fancy a cigarette, I do a set of squats, or push-ups, or force our poor Felipe (the cat) to run with me across the apartment to catch a stuffed mouse...

sounds good. don't worry, even if metabolism slows a tiny bit, it is not likely to add any unwanted weight to an appreciable degree. most of that weight gain people  do gain when quiting is due to their misbehavior with with and lifestyle not a slight drop in metabolic rate, which can be counteracted wtih excercise and proper eating which can raise it.

the deal with weight gain even if something does predispose someone is like a saying an old molecular biology and biochemistry professor of mine used to say, nature might load the gun but people keep pulling the trigger (for the most part. i'm not talking about severe genetic abnormalities and / or other debilitating conditions).

I must have been hit by some bad luck curse  >:(

This morning I started to make coffee and broke the coffee machine (don't ask)...so I though I would make my coffee the old fashioned way...and the bloody water boiler didn't work either!  >:(

So I had to boil water on the stove which takes ages...and then was finally able to make some brown stuff that vaquely looks like coffee...

I guess it's not even worth to try anything with the piano, I'll probably break a finger or something.

I wonder if 49410enrique's cute kitten trick would work on lifting the curse...worth a try I guess...

With all the depressed looks on the women of Spain they shouldn't be complaining so much about the lack of attention. Here it is all about making babies.

In 40+ years from now you will be thanking yourself for making this decision.

Don't sweat the weight gain. That can be managed by an exercise regimen. My wife joined "Curves" and praises it to all her friends. If you do nothing those kilos won't disappear easily. And starving yourself won't work.

Hang in there!

Sure, you are very welcome :)

It didn't help though...Seems the curse has extended to my playing as well... I have had trouble all week, but now it seems I have lost everything...I can't play any of my pieces, even the ones I has pretty well done. I can't remember them and something is wrong with my fingers, they feel weak and sluggish, playing wrong notes simply because my hands feel "off". Feels like some acute dementia... I wonder if working too much this week is causing this or If I am getting ill or something...

If one is not enough, we can always try to increase the numbers...

btw you should in vest in one of these if you don't have one already i had spell where i had no cofee maker and these inexpensive things are magical. best freakin coffee i've ever made, you put the grinds. add the boiling/hot water. let it sit for about 5 minutes, slowly press the plunger down so the grings get pressed to the bottom. give it some good preessure at the end. out comes inredible coffee. better than anything ive ever made in a coffee maker.

french press

I've seen those, maybe I should buy one... I was able to fix the coffee maker though :)

But the water boiler is completely dead, I guess I need to buy a new one :(

Oh, Henry is very sweet but I simply cannot stand the guy speaking French... :(

I feel a bit better now, I spent an hour at the piano just trying to get some sense into my hands and was finally able to play something...

Fine as they are and nice as they look, I'd advise investing in an all-metal one as the glass jugs are rather expensive to replace if they break; I'd not be without three of them (of different sizes), though!

I am hopeful that the curse may have been lifted (knock on my head)... Morning coffee was ok and I just had a rather good practice session, seems like my fingers have gotten out of their spaghetti-like state...  :)

Not much prepared for tomorrow's lesson but hopefully my teacher won't "tear me apart" :P

Well in real life I've seen a 14 year old play ALL of Gaspard de la Nuit, and ALL of petrouchka.

And on youtube I've seen a 9 year old play La Campanella, a 12 year old play Rachmaninoff sonata 2, and an 11 year old play Petrouchka.

yep, Lisitsa can practice all day and it sounds beautiful. Sometimes I wish I didn't have to listen to myself practice but that would be counter-productive.

This video clip was made by a 15 year old with some of his friends of the same age.  It was shot totally in our pueblo in Spain and has made a bit of a hit on YouTube. Enjoy!

And not a centimo of taxpayer money was used in the making of this video.

Well, I've mainly got my eye set of the University of Virginia. But I'm also applying to George Mason University, James Madison University, The George Washington University, Georgetown University, The College of William & Mary, and American University...I'm in-state for VA, so that should help a bit.

Hello again!!! I miss you all people from Pianostreet!!!!! I want to be here every day!!! but then I just don't have time!  >:(  >:( well now I have holidays!!!!  :)  :P  8) and I really need them too! because last week, specially at the end of the week and during the weekend I have been working, just working all the time!!! because I needed to translate something really fast! and it was 27 pages!!!!!  :o and it was some statistical research thing  ::) not interesting at all, and not fun at all, I mean it was something about neonatal tetanus!!!!! and I don't even know if I translated everything ok, because I didn't really understand everything... but there wasn't enough time to ask for advise and besides our internet wasn't working for two days. So almost all Friday all Saturday and all Sunday I was translating!!! Because I needed about an hour for 1 page... so that's about 27 hours (at least)... and on Saturday and Sunday I only slept for like 4 hours!!!! I don't know how I did that, usually I need at least 9 hours if I don't want to be sleepy during the day! Oh well................ I'm glad we have holidays now!!!!!!!!!!!!  :P  :)

Not quite appropriate, but funny.

I don't know what the real lyrics are on some of these so these are the words I'll think of next time.

my housemate is going back to beijing for 2 months, and given me some websites for clothes, my god they are so cheap, $10 for formal wear, compared to the 60-100 or so price of it here. but best of all, he will also leave me his car to use! (joking - but mine is defected, damn imports) he is bringing back his violin, his flute, his electronic drumkit,  I've never played another instrument.. if the neighbours thought my piano playing was bad.. just they wait!

ohh and he is buying me a traditional instrument, whatever this thing is that looks like a cross between a hockey stick, and that fancy club they to hit balls from horses that currently eludes me, but with strings, a croquet? a crotchet?  https://www.chinesecultureonline.com/product_images/7/erhu_2_big.jpg
