apparently in my case I sourced them, starved them and then willingly set them upon myself.

You needn't have done it on your own. I'm sure there are many who'd have chipped in to help.

you can find me tiger then.

*considering I already had 3 movements I'm no longer sure what the metaphor is refering to and am a little concerned as to what the tiger may actually be.

Two locked threads.  Wondering if something's going on.  Don't start arguing on my thread and get it closed.  I wonder if we could get the ability to delete posts on these threads.  Then the thread creator would be in charge/could moderate their own thread.  That would be a different PS culture though.

Thinking that I haven't been on here as much lately.

Wondering why, if I'm actually leaning toward losing weight now, that fat does disappear evenly all over.  I see fat on my abs, where some appears to have disappeared, but it didn't disappear evenly all over.  It just disappeared on the bottom.  Looks weird.  Nice to have control over hunger though.

The locking also took me by surprise. We've had long running arguments before about far less substantive issues which were never locked.

Weight never comes off evenly. Everyone is different. What really takes work is to convert fat to muscle through exercise. Something about doing that improves glucose levels but you will always be hungry.

It seems kind of ironic.... (or something)

... that in classical music, the first person to do something often and at a high level get the credit.  Those who do the same later are just copying.  For example, if someone writes a symphony in the style of Mozart, it's probably automatically garbage.  It's just copying... why not go listen to the real thing instead?  (Although I do wonder why someone doesn't write a symphony in x style on the same level as the original composer, and if they wrote it well enough, if it would be considered good.  Then again, if it's repeating the style, there might not be financial support for it, enough to let them develop as a composer and create more works, finer works.)

The ironic thing -- Repetition of style in composition is rejected.  (Right?)  But on the performance side, we're all trying to create the exact same thing over and over most of the time.  (Right?)  You want Beethoven?  Yes, but you want it just like Beethoven meant it to be, as pure as possible, as much... like Beethoven as possible.  Yes, you can add your own self into it somewhat, but it's still mostly Beethoven.  If you write a piece of music like Beethoven, it's crap.  If you can perform Beethoven like he meant it to be, it can be great.  I suppose it's bringing to life the actual music, but... It's probably already been done before many times and captured in recordings.  There is the live music argument I guess.

It would be quite an achievement to write Beethoven's 10th Symphony. We don't think that way today. The musical mind has changed. Yes we want to hear it as close as possible to the original but we do not hear it the same way they did at the time.

In Beethoven's era more people played instruments or sang than they do today. That experience changes the "hearing context" of the listener.

Ugh... What a way to wake up and start the week. I'm surprised I haven't had this nightmare before.

It's after work one night in the summer.  Wasn't there a concert tonight?  Wait, aren't I in that concert?  Was that tonight?  Or last night?  Or tomorrow? Isn't in it a town about an hour's drive away too?  Crap.  The concert's right now, isn't it?  It's just starting... But it's an hour away.  Why don't I know when the concert is? Except I know I'm in it.  I start searching my notes.  Nothing.  No information.  I start searching online.  Nothing.  Then I turn on the TV.  It's televised.  Just about to begin.  But I'm not there.  There's not much point leaving to drive to it.  By the time I get there it will be over.  What was I supposed to wear to it?  Was it standard concert attire or something different?  And then somehow I'm there.  Apparently I figured out the place and drove over anyway, knowing I'd get there too late, after the concert is over.  But somehow I make it there by intermission.  I don't have any kind of instrument though.  I'm on stage without an instrument.

Ugh.... I really hope I don't have that dream again.

I know that nightmare.  I'm in my tails ready to go on and i'm supposed to play bartok 2nd and i don't even know how to spell his name.  That's when i resort to the instant- wake up trick.  I look ahead of me and really try to bug my eyes.  And in my bed i open them!

That's the nightmare of consummate musicians.

I do a lot of traveling so my nightmares include gathering missing luggage, rent-a-cars, getting lost in strange towns, etc.

Birba, do you ever dream in the language of your adopted country?

So it turns out that I have to accompany a singer for her showcase.

Auditions are this week!

What the freaking heck?!  We haven't even had a rehearsal yet!!!  And I barely know the music!!!

Okay...  Think...

What would Valentina Lisitsa do?

One suspects she would have been better prepared.  What are you playing, and why no rehearsal yet - surely the singer has been anxious for one.

When I lived in a country with universal heath care there was a lot of trading of pain killers between patients as they switched from meds that stopped working. Good luck finding something that works. Every body is different.

Amusing.  I was just thinking, maybe realizing... After practicing on my own for a long time and doing accompanying where I'm not really focused on or heard.... It seems a little foreign to me that someone would actually listen to me playing.  I'm hardly ever 'performing' anymore.  It's just practicing.  No one listens to practicing and practicing isn't meant to be listened to, not like a performance at least.

The back is better now...I have a couple of doctor friends who prescribe me things that do work, so I seldom go to the doctors at my official medical care. Nothing illegal, but doctors who suffer from similar problems themselves seem to know better what works :)

The horse symbolizes any great thing that provides an experience of certain importance. Such can be learning the ways of Bach or the what-nots. Lol. You can get on a Rach sonata horse, but some may not be ready to ride it for long. If you keep working on your schedule, you will find good time to practice. This success would be an example of fully riding the horse. It's what Texas is all about, apparently.

Lol! Luckily(if you choose the B) horses can cause much more physical trauma...although... ::)
Ok, horses and Bach can have the same kind of kick. However, you could probably serenade a horse with Bach. But the Bach is not affected by horses in any way or FORM? Haha
