Doesn't look like they have a "product may not be exactly as pictured" disclaimer.

Maybe "Oboe Swab" is a new model of trombone.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

First World "U.S." problem...

The person didn't frame it as an issue, but during a conversation they mentioned how they had to take a break from eating a meal because they were full.  "I was eating supper the other night -- I had a take a break because I was full -- and then...."

I'm watching an Opera production of Hansel und Gretel, as I've been cast as the Mother and Witch for this Summer, and I'm wondering who these loser Hansel Gretel characters are doing all the singing and getting so much musical time.  Seems the whole dang story is about these two ... *cough*

Don't know what happened to me today...I studied some chords and theory, which normally is very offputting...I noticed I am getting too mixed up with different terminology so I decided to stick to the local ones for the time being...which means I have to learn to use the right names for everything again. And I might need to get a theory book on my own language...maybe I have some in the basement storage...then again it's packed full of stuff and I can't get to anything... or maybe it's too much trouble and I'll just forget about the whole thing... :P

So the chords and theory are normally offputting BUT? Was it better today? You sound like you are surprised with yourself!

Man, I cut my fingernails and cuticles the other day and my fingertips are all sensitive to heavy action today! M baby grand has ivory and very heavy keys and I am having so much fun just trying to play like I do on other instruments. It is very challenging. And loud on my eardrums. lol

I am surprised, I usually just forget about any theory and practice on the piano, I have good ear and go by intuition :)

Can't remember the last time I bothered to try to get back some of the theoretical concepts...I think whatever theory I ever learned was very shallow, since it's all gone now. Probably because it was never in any connection with the practice of making music... But I do see now that I probably need some to help me remember what I am doing...
Something in my mind to which I can associate the physical movements of playing and the sounds I hear, if you know what I mean...

My teacher always fails miserably when trying to talk about music theory, during the lesson I simply cannot concentrate on what she is saying...I need to read things and think them through on my own.

you should ear train to learn chords and harmony! That way you can learn all the chords and you will be able to identify them when you listen to music.

I've never done any deliberate ear training...
I wish I could make myself care about things like identifying chords in music, but I just don't...it's so boring... I guess my problem is that when it comes to music I am mainly interested in the finished product, not so much in how it is constructed. I am more interested on how to execute it on the piano...

This is it?

That's going to be the question several times throughout my life I think.  That's it?  This is what I did all that work for?

That and it's probably all downhill/going to get worse.

That is hysterical! I can only imagine. I know quite a few people that are brilliant when they drink. I only had drunk charm once in my life and I used it on myself...LOL. I have a hard time meeting other people's energy levels in social situations, though. I just can't drink for fun, at all. Too bad, too. My grandparents drink like on New Years, but they do it well and have fun. I was the worst that night!

Reading the comments of popular classical music videos on YouTube is funny. I don't even know how so much ignorance, idiocy, and pointless quibbling can end up on a single video.

Morbid thoughts... At first I was thinking a hundred years from now, maybe PS would have all these posts from dead people on it.  Except of course in 2113 computers and whatever the internet turns into will be very different, and someone would have to migrate and keep all this data.  That aside...

A more immediate thought...  What about sooner?  Or, when would the PS site end?  When do other sites end?  When the owner gives up on it or... when the owner dies.  What happens to the site when Nils dies?  Or what happens if Nils is hit by a car tomorrow?  If Nils dies decades from now would he pass the site on to his kids?  Would they bother to take care of it?

I suppose someone could copy it and make another version of the PS site if they wanted to.

Or... What if people stop buying gold memberships and the site doesn't bring in any money?  What if stops making financial sense to continue the site?

Morbid thoughts...

This whole thing started from nothing more than a concept of protocol so that we could wire networks together. It will end the same way. Another protocol will make this obsolete.

We put a www gateway into our network in 1992 along side telnet. In fact we used telnet much more to exchange silliness with other administrators down the street.

More than likely PS will end because people want everything for free!

More than likely PS will end because people want everything for free!

Everything on the internet is free except tangible downloads. Hosting isn't very expensive if not free for forums. For a forum such as this one, it probably costs no more than 20 a month for the forum section on the absolute high end.

The stuff that is expensive is the download section which eats up bandwith. That is what the gold membership -obviously- pays for and covers the cost. On average, I'd estimate ~$5 per gold membership per month. My assumption is based on the idea that people are more likely to sign up for longer terms simply because this is a hobby that lasts a lifetime, not a game that is old in 3 months. 4 gold memberships pay for the forum, and whichever other ones pay for the download section. Just on this page we have 3 gold members that total 19 years on this forum.

The last bandwith issue is the performance section, but people could just link to youtube/soundcloud instead of the site supporting a playback. Again, if it came down to preserving solely this forum, it could/would be free.

You sound like a pretty knowledgeable person. My hosting costs $3/month and smf is included. And a secure section is also included. For that kind of money (even less if bought for 5 years) it doesn't make sense to set up an exclusive domain, etc., and getting a pipe big enough for peak demand wouldn't come cheap.

I'm much more worried about Nils falling on the ice!

I don't really know the structure of the site, but I would assume he isn't the only one with access given the "About us" section lists:

Patrick Jovell - Articles, news and social media
Henrik Sandback - Sheet music production, recordings and forum moderation
David Wärn - Writing, sheet music editing, recordings and social media
Johan Sandback, CEO

While nothing on the internet is permanent except your embarrassing stories, I'd be somewhat confident they'd be able to manage passing along access.

My parents informed me it was "fun". Given that they probably don't remember the first half of the movie by the time they left, I'm hesitant to give their review much credit.

Creepy short story, The Russian Sleep Experiment.  Nice one for Halloween.

im listening to an oratory reading with a rasping, whispered voice. it has a silent hill piano piece in the background and an awful picture ._.

haha and ofcourse been awake for 36+ hours because unable to sleep then work shift..obv all the drugs they pumped all them if true.

well got to the end, thought it might of been plausible for a while there ;x though there's enough literature on speed psychosis regardless
