A camera with high ISO and flip out screen would work. They'd only have to see their head, they could look down at the rest of them. Ill fitting clothes feel bad as well as look bad.

Vampires are also destroyed by light, which is essential to creating a reflection...In the dark, the webcam wouldn't even see you to create a detailed enough picture for a vampire to see how disgusting their pores are...:P

They seem all right with overheard lights, candle light, etc.  *Bob wonders how they'd fare with full-spectrum UV light bulbs.*

I don't remember about cameras, if a vampire can be photographed -- analog -- or recorded with video tape -- analog again.

August 6th, the anniversary of the first bomb. But they didn't believe us and we had to do it again.

I see someone is still quietly selling ad space in their signature.  Have they no shame? Have they no decency?  This is an educational forum.  How dare they!  How dare they!?  I say.  Or said now... I already said it, so it's in the past even though it's the very near now.  Now it's definitely in the past.  Said.  How dare they... I say!?  How dare they attempt to make money off education?  With their money-scrounging ways... *Bob drops off into a mumble rant and falls asleep....*

I wonder if, or I'm surprised one hasn't already, if a politician would try to tax states that have forest fires, to put a carbon tax on them.

Wild fires have become big business. We can't get permits to clear foliage. Forests are allowed to become overgrown with no chance for any logging to thin them.

Think about this, when was the last time a wildfire burned a managed forest? Our national parks are a disaster waiting to happen. And don't think about getting a permit to graze your herd on BLM land.

It's not about preventing the fires, it's about having the latest equipment to fight the fire. Have you seen the L1011 dropping fire retardant? Three hungry jet engines flying at approach speed with flaps full out. That very same plane did LAX-LHR.

I wonder if we start going around saying, "Suite!" when we think something's cool.

I guess the joke would be lost though if it's verbal.  Maybe it's you're looking at a concert program... Then I could see it working.   Suite....    Suite program....

That was the ramps fault!

The edge is so freaking sharp!!!  Actually though...  It's legit sharp like a knife.

And the sun is so hot and it makes the ramps hot!!!!!!

I'll only take responsibility for the bruise.

I cut my leg open, but I don't think I need stitches.  I wanna hide this from my parents.

#1 rule: relax and enjoy yourself. Let us know how you liked it and what you saw.

Went to the concert a couple of days ago. I loved it. Best night of my life (yeah, I don't get out often, haha).

I saw LA Phil and Helene Grimaud perform Brahms 1. I can't say much about it, other than the fact that I was speechless at the end of the performance. It was the first time in my life that I actually saw a REAL piano performance.

Best hundred dollars I've ever spent. :P

The acoustics were amazing, but I'm just wondering- I noticed speakers all over the stage; do the performers actually utilize these to amplify the sound? I'm guessing yes, because the audience is pretty big. Would you know anything about this?

Sounds like a pimp.  ;D

HB has been using amplification since the 1940's.

The acoustics at the bowl are atrocious!

Those speakers on the stage replace the earphones we wore in the old days to be able to hear our fellow musicians. Otherwise you feel you are playing a solo. Out in the audience you are hearing amplified sound.

Your next adventure should be to hear them at the Dorothy Chandler in the winter. That should be an entirely acoustic experiance.

*I'm late to class*

Teacher:  Why are you late to class?

Me:  well you see, I was walking up the stairs, but a security guard stopped me and sent me to my dean for wearing "inappropriate attire" which obviously I wasn't.  So I was talking to my dean, and he couldn't think of a way to puni-

Teacher:  sit down, I'm the middle of a lesson.

What I keep hearing:  "why are you late to class?".  "I don't wanna hear your excuse"

I think so, at the least !

Outin, if you've had any time to assess it yet, what do you think about that Polka you will be working on ?
Depressing the pedal on an out of tune acoustic piano and playing does not result in tonal color control or add interest, it's called obnoxious.

I've already worked it out actually...It's a cute little piece. And quite easy, except for a couple of uncomfortable hand positions. Not sure whether to change the fingering to be able to play faster or consider them as hand flexibility practice...Definitely good practice for my left hand.

I told my teacher that for a while I want only very short pieces and pieces that I can read, because I am tired of trying to memorize pages of music that also present technical challenges. So I'll probably have new pieces every week now. I'm still working daily on my reading too, so I find all kinds of little pieces...

I also really like the Casella set, I might just do them all...

Parent get very concerned about "Christmas" songs (even when the song or piece goes along with their own religion).

I haven't heard of any parents getting concerned about these kid songs.

Happy to have Youtube.  There's so much music on there.  So many recordings of the same pieces.  All just about free.

I'm thinking... Twenty years ago, what would it have taken to get the same recordings?  Money to buy them and amass a recording collection.  Or a decent music library nearby.  And some effort and then probably a bit of snobbishness/selectivity -- "Did you hear X's recording of Y piece?  I like that so much better than Z's version of the piece."  But now... How difficult is it to bring that up on Youtube?  Fairly brainless.  It's already feeding you another version of the same piece.  It's intuitive to click on another version of the same piece.

There's this buzzing echo when I play some keys on my piano...can't figure out why it has appeared, wasn't there yesterday. I first thought something was resonating on my piano, but it didn't help to take away all the stuff. Now I can't practice certain pieces for my lesson tomorrow, the noise annoys me too much...

Just random PSA... All hypothetical of course....

If you're making a fruit smoothie (just like that really good one you made last night, and then you carefully washed the blender and set it all out to dry), before you put the fruit in and especially before you put the liquid in....

Make sure the bottom part it attached to the blender.  That prevents the liquid from spilling out all over the place.
