Given your history, I'd suggest going the whole hog:

Well the part of my body that takes the most damage is my left butt, shins, and left wrist.
I've never actually hit my head before, but today I saw someone slam on an 11 foot vert wall and hit his head.
When he got to the top, he tried to go down backwards but his board was still stuck on the coping. So that's an 11 foot drop to the back of the head.
Yeah it was pretty nasty. He was done for the day. I don't know if he went to the hospital or not. He needed people to carry him out of the bowl.
No but yeah, today was my first time coming to this park and skating the bowl, and it's freaking
ENORMOUS! Like dude it's absolutely
terrifying! Everything is like 7-8 feet tall, and then there's this big ass 11 foot extension on it! And all my skating career I've only skated 4 foot tall half pipes lol...
Think of it as like jumping from a Chopin etude to the Rach 3.
And when that guy hit his head, I was like, 'nuh uh man, I will NOT die on this!'.
That's why I decided to gear up.
Well I'll only wear the helmet on the extension. The 7 footers aren't THAT bad.
Actually they are pretty bad.... Only if I'm trying something scary.
Well I decided on wearing a wrist guard because I could imagine that it won't be good for piano in the long run.
