All right, fine.  Send me a hundred US dollars and I'll do the Goldberg Aria and the first variation.  I just now figured out how to get an Android phone to be like a real device, using TerMux, not this ridiculous "I touch screen make go fast good app!".  And I will do it as though a cat-shark were eating me.  (No, I can't do the 1st var. as fast and clean as Gould's first recorded version, but I can do it as fast as someone being eaten by a cat-shark.)

ETA Hey, perfect_pitch, I just recently checked out you arrangement of that tango piece "Por una cabeza" — well, the Youtube performance of it, anyway.  I used to keep that one in my back pocket, along with Joplin's "Solace," just to have some tunes that are familiar in a more-or-less similar rhythm that people would recognize. 

Not razzing you about dingos or kangaroo scrotum purses, but what do you think a virtuoso (well, maybe more just a grandiose, is more the term) arrangement of "Waltzing Matilda" might be like? 

Of course I know the tune, but I also know the audiences well enough to know that something like Liszt's arrangement of "La Marseillaise" is not going to be that well received.  I've been noticing an uptick of Oz sightseers up here where I'm at recently — they're often using the hiking trails — and I just wondered how far one can go with such a beloved tune.  I guess most reharms are out, as are modulations.

I just think taping your fingers together, à la Don Pullen in jazz, could yield even greater velocity.  Accuracy may suffer, but if you wear a flashy miniskirt and heels, the audience might not notice.

Sort of like a Gb major — you read between the lines.  (Incidentally, that's not a bad idea doing, say, the first Goldberg Variation in Gb:  not that it's a devlishly difficult thing, but I have trouble recreating Gould's original tempo on his first studio recording of this.  It's a good idea:  do it by ear/memory, and when memory fails, just read it straight off the staves dropping everything down a half-step.)
