Still this quote battle is occuring whether you want to pretend it is or not :P Ask everyone else on pianostreet whats happening between you and me. QUOTE WARSSSSSS lol, well they might call it something .... else... lol. Still the activity uses many quotes and responses to quotes, which is much much quoting :P
So who really cares?

Yes, since you are not even bothered to look up a definition of a word and instead what to say you don't know what it means
I have no need to look up the definition of a word with whose meaning I am well familiar - and your sentence seems to have gone walkabouts here...

So yes you will have to remain ignorant.
I will have to do nothing of the kind, although we are all ignorant of something.

Yeah but there are ways to insert yourself into a convo without looking like a control freak trying to tell someone how to behave and what they can and cant do, i.e: you telling me that I shouldn't tell j_tour what to play while ignoring my motivation for typing exactly what I did.
I did not say what you should and shouldn't tell him; I merely pointed out whose decision it was as to what repertoire he practised. I referred to your motive in telling him what you did as being questionable, so it had hardly gone unnoticed.

Yet you tried to when you said: "It is for j_tour to decide what repertoire he practises - not you". A rather unnecessary comment from you trying to tell me what to do.
How is stating what is for j_tour  to decide equivalent to telling you waht to do?

When they ask a question about repertoire they get a suggestion, if you want to try and kill that discussion then you are merely butting into a conversation without anyone asking you to and providing useless commentary that no one asked for.
I don't feel the need to explain to you what I meant by what I said, you have chosen to interpret it all in your own way and thus come up with a large story all of your own making. That is why I told you to stay out of conversations that have nothing to do with you.
Ah so YOU are now trying to tell ME what to do and what not to do AND which conversations have nothing to do with me! That's OK for you, then! How badly cracked is that mirror? , I can't be bothered to wonder

My fingers are neither itching or need employment.[/quote
Oh, well that's good, then.

Your failure in understanding how ips are used to determine the local times of users here doesn't interst me one bit except for the fact that it explains why you are mistaken and why when you said gep was not on the same timeline as you and it was proven to you that he is, that you don't appreciate that result highlights the fact that you don't appreciate how a used ip is used to determin the local times of users here.
I am the one who reminded you of it so of course I remember. So Ill wait for you to apologize for being wrong about the fact that you and gep have the exact same timezone location as proven by the results that can be viewed in each users profile. I can write my location as Jupiter in my profile but I can't edit the time :P
I have already stated the facts. The Netherlands is in a different time zone to UK, regarless of what any profile timezone information might tell you. That's a fact.

Since always.
No now you are going further than I bothered about. I am saying you can gep have exactly the same timezone locations which can be viewed via the profiles. You said simple that it was wrong and refused to accept that this information is valid. Now you are trying to question the validity of that information which is totally laughable, are you a programer for bulletin boards? Please explain via the code how it is inaccurate otherwise be quiet.
However no one cares what the extent of your interest is, what is important is that you asked for something which was unnecessary to ask for.
You already agree that it is not my duty to go into this, so your continual discussion on this is perplexing and of no material consequence.
However your fingers might or might not be employed, you really do enjoy the sound of them on your keyboard! Well, one supposes that someone has to. You can check for yourself which timezones UK and the Netherlands are in and, if you accept what you find (i.e. that they are in different ones), you have presumably concluded that we are in the same country or in two countries in the same time zone which, as I have stated, is not the case; if you don't accept what you find, I cannot be held responsible. Who cares, anyway?!

in the end I am right, You and GEp have exactly the same timezone as proven by the information in the profiles. Anything else you say is inconsequential since my interest is rather obvious and you simply want to go further. I have been right all along with what I am saying.
So this forum's profiles are factual on countries timezones and all other information sources as to countries' timezones are false? If that's your belief choice, be my guest. I did mention, incidentally, thatm whereas gep's location is mentioned in his profile, none is mentioned in mine, so you'll have either to take my word for the fact of my UK location or not, as you wish. Not my problem.

So who really cares?
No one has to care, you just refuse to acknowledge that you are doing it, so I am making you aware of it. You like quote wars??? ahaha

I have no need to look up the definition of a word with whose meaning I am well familiar - and your sentence seems to have gone walkabouts here...
Maybe you have to read more carefully? Oh so you are familiar with my words, I wonder where all that confusion came from previously when you said:

I have no more idea what "kibitizing on the sidelines" might be or to whom than I have of who it might be that does not "welcome" it, whatever it might be.
YOu have no idea what "kibitzing on the sidelines" means. So do you know what the word Kibitiz means? So you know what the meanin of "on the sidelines" means? Surely you can put it all together? Yep, it is not a good idea to insert yourself into a conversation that has nothing to do with you.

I will have to do nothing of the kind, although we are all ignorant of something.
Yes, since you are not even bothered to look up a definition of a word and instead want to say you don't know what it means when it is VERY easy to go to google and type the word in. So yes you will have to remain ignorant.

I did not say what you should and shouldn't tell him; I merely pointed out whose decision it was as to what repertoire he practised.
Yet he asked for an opinion and got one, so your interjection was highly inappropriate and not asked for and totally inappropriate to try and tell me what to do and interfer with what was asked for by j_tour. My response was a good one, you read it in a weak manner and failed to understand the meaning of what I said, you never asked me to elaborate and instead went off on your own interpretation which was unncessary.

I referred to your motive in telling him what you did as being questionable, so it had hardly gone unnoticed.
And yet you did not ask me what I exactly meant by it all instead want to interfer with my communication with j_tour. You should focus your attention on what concerns you, you thought I was being mean to Sorabji and felt the need to respond.

How is stating what is for j_tour  to decide equivalent to telling you waht to do?
Because if you see I made a suggestion and you said I have no right to suggest anything to him and he should decide for himself, as if you are saying my suggestion should be totally ignored. It is not a good idea to put peoples opinions down especially when it is in a discussion which didn't involve you, it equates to silly sideline kibitzing.

Ah so YOU are now trying to tell ME what to do and what not to do AND which conversations have nothing to do with me! That's OK for you, then! How badly cracked is that mirror?
Yes because the conversation was between me and j_tour so it belonged to us, you simply butted in saying I have no right to tell j_tour what he should learn and it's up to him not me.

I can't be bothered to wonder
yet you can be bothers to write more unnecessary posts here? I can't be bothered to wonder why :P

I have already stated the facts. The Netherlands is in a different time zone to UK, regarless of what any profile timezone information might tell you. That's a fact.
Inconsequential, the fact remains that the timezones are exactly the same in the profiles and there is no hour difference where there should be. I have tested this on many other people from all over the world and all their times are correct.

To your utter joy I am sure! :)
I find i peculiar that in this thread of quotes you wanted to focus on something you created about how I am using my fingers. This thread of quotes was more interested in this:

You want to tell me that your timezones (you and gep)  are not the same in a previous response to me, let me refresh your memory:

I said: Quote from: lostinidlewonder on Today at 10:41:08 AM

You responded with your misinformation:

He isn't.

After some battle you decided to actually look at it and noticed that I was correct that the profiles show that you both have EXACTLY the same timeline. This is all I was pointing out and I am 100% correct.

You are rambling on and on. I am simply interested in the fact that your time zones are EXACTLY THE SAME, even though you are supposed to be living in different zones. That is a basic fact. I am actually laughin so hard now with your total avoidance of this clear fact that is so simple. You are trying to bring in all sorts of things which is inconsequential. It is very very simple. Look at profiles of ahinton and gep, supposed to be in different countries on different time lines yet... what do we have here? wow exactly same timeline!!!!

The website here uses the IP address to identify the location of the users and thus apply the timezones. If you can't understand that go away. It is clear as day the information the profiles are giving us, don't try to word salad this and bring all sorts of other factors into it that no one else is talking about. It is a very very simple situation.

Of couse I know what "sidelines are"; I had not encountered previously "kibitzing" and that is perhaps less than surprising as its place appears to be in American English and its origin Yiddish. It is not, however, for you to decide who any conversation has anything to do with - and your use of such a term is not a valid deciding factor in this.

Yes, since you are not even bothered to look up a definition of a word and instead want to say you don't know what it means when it is VERY easy to go to google and type the word in. So yes you will have to remain ignorant.
No, not ignorant but honest. I told you that I was not familiar with the word and then looked it up.

All nonsense, not least because I stated that it was up to him to decide what repertoire he wasnted to practise and, as I mentioned, your suggestion that he learn some Sorabji instead of Schubert was of questionable motivation.

You should focus your attention on what concerns you
Oh, I do, believe you me; I do!

you thought I was being mean to Sorabji and felt the need to respond.
I didn't say that; I merely questioned why you introduced him into that part of the conversation, especially given what you have said you feel about much of that composer's work.

How serious a suggestion was it that he try some unspecified Sorabji instead of some Schubert Impromptus?

Yes because the conversation was between me and j_tour so it belonged to us, you simply butted in saying I have no right to tell j_tour what he should learn and it's up to him not me.[/quote]
If it was that private a conversation and you wantged to keep it that way, why did you not use the PM facility to conduct it?

yet you can be bothers to write more unnecessary posts here? I can't be bothered to wonder why :P
Well, that at least is a relief, however small!

Inconsequential, the fact remains that the timezones are exactly the same in the profiles and there is no hour difference where there should be. I have tested this on many other people from all over the world and all their times are correct.
Again, so you are claiming either that Netherlands and UK are in tghe same timezone or that either gep or I cannot be located in the countries that his profile shows and in which I claim to be located?

Not a whole lot of that around here!

It is not, however, for you to decide who any conversation has anything to do with - and your use of such a term is not a valid deciding factor in this.
Go back and look at what j_tour asked me and how I responded (in a funny way which has still not been elaborated upon), if you are interested I meant that he would feel like a loser trying Sorabji because of its difficulty, not because it is bad music. In any case you really had no right to tell me not to suggest anything to him when he asked me directly for a suggestion (even though i played around with j_tour in a harmless way and you can see his response).

No, not ignorant but honest. I told you that I was not familiar with the word and then looked it up.
It took the next response to actually look it up, so you could have looked it up without saying how confused you were and save time in this thread.

All nonsense, not least because I stated that it was up to him to decide what repertoire he wasnted to practise and, as I mentioned, your suggestion that he learn some Sorabji instead of Schubert was of questionable motivation.
Still he asked me a question and I answered in the way I wanted to, why do you think you have to kibitz your opinion over it?

Oh, I do, believe you me; I do!
I suggested your attention in this thread to avoid this: You did not ask me what I exactly meant by it all instead want to interfer with my communication with j_tour. You should focus your attention on what concerns you, you thought I was being mean to Sorabji and felt the need to respond.

I didn't say that; I merely questioned why you introduced him into that part of the conversation, especially given what you have said you feel about much of that composer's work.
No you didn't question me about that composer at all, your first reaction was to tell me that I can't tell j_tour what works he should learn. Go look at your first response there. It has nothing to do with "why" at all it was a clear YOU SHALL NOT PASSSSSSS lol, well not like that it was more like....

It is for j_tour to decide what repertoire he practises - not you.
Even after he asked me to suggest something you tell me not to suggest something to him lol.

How serious a suggestion was it that he try some unspecified Sorabji instead of some Schubert Impromptus?
Obviously not serious, but it would help him notice how losing he is :P Losing in the fact that if have just reached the level to play Schubert Impromptu you pretty much will feel like a loser with no piano skill attempting to play Sorabji. Do you get my humor now? All it required was this question at the start and not trying to tell me how I should interact with j_tour after he asked me a question.

If it was that private a conversation and you wantged to keep it that way, why did you not use the PM facility to conduct it?
I mean you can JOIN in the conversation but you simply BUTTED in tell me that I cant tell j_tour what to practice even after he actually asked for it! JOIN in the conversation not try to control it you are welcome to that.

Well, that at least is a relief, however small!
It is fun hey :) I enjoy it.

Again, so you are claiming either that Netherlands and UK are in tghe same timezone or that either gep or I cannot be located in the countries that his profile shows and in which I claim to be located?
It is very simple ahinton stop trying to make it confusing. Go to your profile and go to geps, your timezones are stated as exactly the same. End of story. It is an irrefutable truth and I don't want to discuss anything other than this.

Not a whole lot of that around here!
Aww come on there is not enough activity here, get your fingers warmed up and get mad typing!

And he isn't.
Looking at your profile information and geps will prove otherwise.

In saying that he isn't, I made no mention of profiles;
That is where you are ignoring what I am saying and creating a situation of your own. I specifically said right at the very start why the profile timezones are the same, if you don't want to mention it that is up to (albeit a silly idea since I made it clear exactly how I was assessing the situation) you but NO ONE did that but yourself.

I merely referred to facts and added that the profile timezone information is wrong for gep but not for me.
The IP was recorded when registering account so this is the correct time and there is nothing wrong with it.

For what I seriously hope to be that last time, gep's timezone as shown in his profile is an hour behind his actual one whereas mine is correct for my location even though that location is not shown there. End of.
For the last time, it doesn't matter that you are saying this it doesnt take away one iota what I have said. Both your timezone in your profiles are exactly the same.

I knew you couldnt resist and respond to me on your alt account :) I consider that a WIN!!! You lose!

Still i wonder where anyone has said REMOVE YOUR POST but you lol! Oh and do edit your location in your profile, that hour discrepancy makes your attempt to say you are from Netherlands look funny. I wonder why you are on the same timeline as ahinton??? AHHAHAHAAH!!!!
My 'alt' account? Interesting; I have, and always had, but one. Oh, and I do know where I live, by the way. While there has once been a Dutch king on the British throne (or at least, he was a Dutch stadholder married to the British queen of the time), The Netherlands never was part of the United Kingdom, and is not so now. For the record, the UK and The Netherlands are not in the same time zone, and Alistair's is an hour behind mine.

I did not realise it was up to you to decide what I, or anyone, could respond to, or in what timeframe. Oh wait, it's not!

No you are not. I do not care what Alistair's of my profiles say about locations or timezones; you are - at very considerable length and in very rude and ludicrous wording - accusing either Alistair, or me, or us both, of lying (about his/mine/our locations). Not that I care about how lost in idle wording you are, or choose to be, of course. The GPS coordinates I put down are, to quote you, 'stating a fact'. But as you seem to be a flat-earther on the matter, I guess you will not accept facts.

Rush to whatever gramatically shaky conclusion you will, I could not care less. But I would never "accuse" someone of a mental (or any other) illness. I do however "accuse" you of having a diseased way of thinking, for while disease is not a choice, acts are. You must be a treat for those happening to live within earshot of you. No you are not.
No I am not what? Talking about more than just the time but you are not bothered to read everything.

I do not care what Alistair's of my profiles say about locations or timezones; you are - are very considerable length and in very rude and ludicrous wording - accusing either Alistair, or me, or us both, of lying (about his/mine/our locations).
I just mentioned that your timezone and his are identical where there should be a difference because you are supposed to live in different areas. What ever you want to think about that is up to you. I have simply mentioned something I saw that was peculiar, and I have my own thoughts about that. Where is the evidence of rudeness?? there is nothing of the sort! You are just feeling perhaps scared that there is so much written, yes that sounds right. Does it make you feel unsafe? lol

Here is even a quote from ahinton who mentions I am not being rude to him:
I've no idea what you are writing about but, since your responses to me were not abusive, I am unsurprised.

Rush to whatever gramatically shaky conclusion you will, I could not care less. But I would never "accuse" someone of a mental (or any other) illness. You must have little ability to read, why don't you quote what I wrote and mention what you thought was gramatically shaky if it bothers you so much to mention?
Your quote of the novel is clearly showing this disrespect for mental illness. Can you explain why you posted such a quote then? I will love to see how you talk your way out of this. I have a diseased way of thinking ahah, can you please elaborate and tell me why! I would love to hear it.

So you think disease of the mind has nothing to do with mental illness? Are you crazy??? lol. Go ahead hurl your insults at me, I haven't done it to you, it makes your position very weak.

Let me correct on that. From what I saw of your writings (insofar as parts of it merit such name; and no, I did not read it all) it's largely all shaky in every possible way.

Your point being? I am discussing with ahinton and he seems to respond on the same topic. If you can't follow it you know you can simply scroll past it all.

Which would have taken one line rather than acres of keyboard SCREAMING!!!!!!!!.
Why should you care, this is a Last post wins thread, the game is to win, and I beat you many times already! I can go on and on about the time as long as necessary, if you don't like it, remember the scroll button? Use it! So good! ahha.

You might have mentioned the fact, asked how such could be if the persons concerned do live in different time zones, and perhaps someone here could have explained.
I like to express things in my own way, it creates more discussion. Your way is boring for me. If you don't like my style then remember the manta... I CAN I CAN I CAN SCROLL PAST THIS! lol.

This is the Gep dictionary not the offical one. Disease of the mind means mental illness, clear and simple, now you have learned something so losing to my post shouldn't feel too bad now.

Your point being? I am discussing with ahinton and he seems to respond on the same topic. If you can't follow it you know you can simply scroll past it all.
Why should you care, this is a Last post wins thread, the game is to win, and I beat you many times already! I can go on and on about the time as long as necessary, if you don't like it, remember the scroll button? Use it! So good! ahha.

Oh sweet sweet winning victory, how i love the taste of it, tastes like salty tears, so so salty.

WIN!!!!!

Care to explain that?

Nope. I've already gone into quote wars with other users... right now I can't be bothered. Seems like Lost, Gep and ahinton are getting their flirt on with each other... so I'll just interject every now and then.

There is never enough people I welcome as many as possible but if they feel angry they should use that SCROLL button and just scroll past it all. The quality of my post only reflects who I am dealing with :) I'm glad I have triggered your "bovine extremement" simile response!!! Peculiar again you want to BUTT INTO a conversation I am having with someone else, I guess you enjoy that kind of activity since you have done it a number of times in this thread already.

BTW I win guys, you all lose!

Don't a lot of those cultures... eat cats?

I eat cats.  The planet Melmac's labor force has grown strong and insuperable thanks to the lean protein provided by the dainty, snack-sized creatures.

I also learned all of Nancarrow's player piano works on a short vacation while using a blend of nootropics, sometimes called crack cocaine, as well as with the aid of a magnetic pulse helmet constructed of common products found in the average home kitchen.

But my teacher says I won't be ready for one of the Schubert impromptus for another year.

I'm very disappointed, because I was really expecting some serious replies in this very scholarly thread.

My name is Nellie, and I take pride in helping protect the children of my community through active leadership roles in my local church and in the Boy Scouts of America.  Bad word make me sad.

This thread has become it's own type of quirky since you showed up... your rantings about meat parcels that look like Stalin are most concerning...

(Sorry about the Schubert thought).

I am the Devil, here to do the Devil's business.

I am also glad Schubert's dead.  He would be way too old now.  The meat would not be good.

Were you serious about not being able to learn the Schubert Impromptus or was that just to try and gather some sympathy?

If you were serious - keep at it, the Schubert Impromptus are lovely and well worth working towards.

Oh dear... that was a terrible pun.

Yes, it was.  Assume the position.

No, I wasn't serious about the Schubert!  I've liked reading the Op. 90 one in Eb, and much of the Winterreise cycle, and some other stuff.  I don't need to do any more with him right now.

Schubert was a fat little man, though, and I find that unacceptable in a composer.
