Not unless they happen - and can be bothered - to notice your silence and not always then either.

Anyway, since all posts are read or ignored in silence, the point (if one could call it that) which you are failing to make remains unclear.

You seem to have developed something of an obsession with silence of late.

As I noted, silence is perhaps inevitable where forum posts are concerned, since posters are typing, not speaking and the noise (if any) made by their typing would not be heard by other forum members unless any of them happened to be in the same room at the time.

I am unaware that anyone has mentioned anything here about "quitting".

I would not in any case dignify what you've been typing of late as "argument".

What you might or might not understand is a matter for you alone.

To return to your latest uncredited quotation, however (for all its questionable contextual relevance), silence can mean many things in many contexts, silences in music being just one example.

Some people just lack the ability to recognise that they do not and cannot speak for "everyone on the forum" yet try to do so anyway; it so happens that I can immediately call to mind two such...

QED.

In the name of all who defend justice!

Do you seek the guilty party?

In the name of outsider art!

Yes!

Anyway, Joe Estevez did make a pretty funny pun on Boris Johnson's name a while back, so, he's OK.

In your opinion, FWIW - and clearly an opinion based upon having read very few of them.

Amazing how someone can say so much, yet say so little.
You seem so adept at this that any amazement at it on my part evaporated quite some time ago!

See?

Can we get back to inciting religious wars and ritual child sacrifice?

Please.

There are people in prison doomed to be hanged for less.

I want to talk about Krenek, Messiaen, and I don't want to hear word one about some pommie ponce who wrote some music which almost nobody cares.

FWIW I love Messiaen's music, all of it, and am very familiar with the organ at the ste. trinité, where I was once frisked by police for drinking in the park out front.  There's a very good optometrist about 200 m across the street headed west.

The most sane part of my life last week was yesterday in a bar and some jackass played some Phil Collins shite on the jukebox.

Susudio indeed.  You rabbit-eared jackelope drop-beared people.

No one has to hear or read anything that they do not wish to hear or read.

Whilst Messiaen's work is widely known and admired, Krenek's prolific output attracts a good deal less attention that it deserves.

I am not arguing against a comparison with any of these dictators, not least because, as I pointed out, comparing is not synonymous with equating.

Well you did forget them; how or why you did so is your concern, not mine.

Somewhere I'm sure we can equate him to someone like the above.
Once again, it is unclear who "we" might be, but I'm pretty sure that none of them had even heard of Sorabji, le alone cared for his music! Then there's the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, whom I'm sure would have railed at Western European style music written by a mixed race Parsi!

Indeed, although I did mention the last of these earlier; clearly the world of the past 100 years or so is not short of dictators and the example of Genghis Khan arguably demonstrates that this is by no means a mere 20th/21st century phenomenon.

Again, comparing and equating are not synonymous.

Anyway, resent away; your issue, not my problem.

Why in any case would I be "intent on destroying the human race"; apart from any other considerations, there would thereafter be no one left to listen to the music of S..a..i ...

I want to talk about Krenek, Messiaen
Krenek's enormous output is bewildering and explores a wide range of stylistic persuasions. There are several piano concertos, mostly relatively early, which have now been recorded on the UK based Toccata Classics label (is that a plug? - if so, too bad!). The first three of his five symphonies are remarkable achievements for someone aged 19-22 and it has long been a matter of puzzlement to me that they have featured so rarely in the repertoires of the world's great orchestras (you can find them all on YouTube). All of these works provide, I think, a good introduction to the composer's music.

I, too, admire much of Messiaen's music (though not quite all of it). In time, indeed, I suspect that he and Sorabji will come to be recognised as major masters of both the piano and the organ during the last three quarters of the past century. There were vast differences as well as some commonalities, of course, not least of which is that Messiaen was a highly regarded teacher whereas Sorabji never taught.

But please do share your thoughts about these two composers!

I didn't know that about Krenek's enormous product:  I just know probably the same as probably most average hacks.

But, Messiaen is already recognized as not only a master of the organ and the acoustic piano, and a trailbreaker of transcription of the natural world, indeed.  His works for piano have already been recorded innumerable times, despite some very real challenges to any keyboardist.

Well, people seem to like that reality TV pezzonovante in the US.

What's his name, like Justin Trudeau or something?  The little dude with the hair and such?

Face it, things is bad, and nobody ends up looking good.  Looking at you, UK, AU, think you're all so high on mighty.  Macron .... Macron started pretty good, considering his.

We should make a rule for...like, no politics.  It's a bad scene all around.
